The Outside Corner:
The line reads out of MLB 12: The Show on Rookie setting while using Justin Verlander against a Double-A team: 40 batters faced over 13 innings, no runs, no hits, one walk, 21 strikeouts at Low-A Delmarva.
Go ahead and read that again.
Okay, one more time.
Did I mention he's only 19 years old? And that he's doing this in the 4th best run-scoring environment in the minor leagues?
Dylan Bundy is someone who would finishing up a freshman year at college right now. Then again, when you win the National High School Player of the Year Awards from Baseball America, USA Today and that bastion of baseball journalism, Gatorade, you might as well just see if the pros could challenge you.
And right now, he needs a challenge in a BIG way.
It could be possible that Bundy was underrated accross the board. Kevin Goldstein ranked him #6 on his Top 101 coming in to 2012. Baseball America's group of writers ranked him #10. Keith Law ranked him #11. (I also find it fun...
BEST OF MAXIM
Dylan Bundy is a minor league pitcher in the Orioles system, but could very quickly be making his way to the bigs if he continues his recent run of success. The 19-year-old Orioles prospect has retired 39 of 40 hitters he has faced so far in his pro career, and the lone baserunner was a walk. That means he's in the midst of 13 no-hit innings, with 21 of those 39 outs recorded...
Here's a running list of news around the Minor Leagues:
– Orioles prospect Dylan Bundy extended his “season-long no-hitter” last night after going for four perfect innings according to Jon Meoli of the Townson Times. Bundy struck out six batters and needed just 44 pitches to retire them.
– Marlins' number one prospect Christian Yelich is off to a terrific start after...
Matt Barnes | RHP, Red Sox | Born: 6/17/1990
As I’m writing this, Matt Barnes is on the bump for Low-A Greenville versus Delmarva, the Orioles South Atlantic League affiliate. Delmarva is starting Dylan Bundy. It’s a matchup of 2011 first-rounders and one could not handpick a better pitchers duel from SAL rosters. Now, Bundy is the more highly touted prospect of the two...
Coming home after losing the last two games of a road trip is never a good feeling.
Returning to face the 2011 MVP and CY Young award winner Justin Verlander makes that losing feeling never go away.
That is the New York Yankees reality today, as they finished their road trip 3-3 and now have to host the Detroit Tigers for a three game set.
You would think that facing Verlander...
Six years ago, Justin Verlander was Stephen Strasburg.
He was 23. He was an ace-in-training. He was in his first full major-league season. He was pitching for an underdog that created championship expectations with a fast start.
All of that is true for Strasburg and the 2012 Washington Nationals.
Jim Leyland, in his first season as the Detroit manager, vowed to take good care...
The Detroit Tigers eliminated the New York Yankees in the opening round of the playoffs last fall.
Justin Verlander was responsible for one of those victories, but he hasn't been nearly as effective in the Bronx.
The reigning AL MVP and Cy Young winner looks to win a third straight start with his first victory at New York in almost five years Friday night when the Tigers and...
Justin Verlander hops with Prince Fielder to try and will him to be able to jump and catch a liner, but to no avail. Luckily for Everett Teaford, Alex Gordon needed no help in robbing a homer, leaving the pitcher in disbelief
Derek Jeter scored on a passed ball with one out in the ninth inning and the New York Yankees rallied to hand the Tigers their fifth straight loss, 7-6 on Friday night, hours after Detroit left fielder Delmon Young was arraigned on a hate crime harassment charge.
Alex Rodriguez homered and drove in two runs, Russell Martin hit a two-run homer and the Yankees bullpen held steady...

Detroit Tigers 6 — New York Yankees 7
Wildness wins it for the Yankees in walk-off fashion with a score of 7...
The Factor12 Rating (F12) is an analytic measurement utilizing league average performance to compare the value of all MLB pitchers.
Justin Verlander continued his dominating start to the 2012 season by throwing up a line of 6IP / 4H / 0ER / 3BB / 8K against the Texas Rangers this week. The reigning AL Cy Young Award winner currently holds the number one position on the F12 list...
The Yanks just spent a couple of days getting shut down by a pair of pitchers they had no business being shut down by. The Detroit Tigers are coming off a sweep at the hands of the Seattle Mariners. Two teams expected to reside at the top have been decidedly mediocre early in the season, with both of them residing in .500 territory.
Tonight, last year’s MVP will meet the Yankees’...
