PLAYERS: Ryan Ludwick
TEAMS: Cincinnati Reds
Ooh, and just think all the fun discussions about line-up construction we can have with another right-handed threat! At last the Reds have hope of getting some help for the left side of the field and the right side of the plate. Ryan Ludwick, who has been on the DL since Opening Day, is finally slated to begin his rehab assignment. Ludwick tore the labrum in his right shoulder sliding head-first in to third base and surgery was required to correct the problem. It’s been slow-going coming back for the just-turned-35-year-old. Having been 35 for a while myself now, I can understand. But at last he’s getting back into real games. On Wednesday, he’ll join the Dayton Dragons, who will be playing in Lansing. He can has as long as a 20-day rehab assignment, and if the rehab goes as slowly as everything else, he’ll use it. Still, “in three weeks” is better than the “never again” in which I thought we might next see Ludwick with the Reds. Ludwick didn’t have any official at-bats before his ...

National writer rips Thom Brennaman over 'obsession' of stat

I believe it's fair to say that Reds broadcaster Thom Brennaman has annoyed listeners and viewers from time to time. But one national writer was so annoyed by Brennaman during Saturday's telecast against the Pirates that he decided to write an entire piece dedicated to it. CBS Sports writer Matt Snyder published this article on Monday which basically rips Brennaman, and...

Reds score in 7 straight innings

“Yeah! Shutout! That’s what people will remember!” (AP Photo/Marcio Jose Sanchez) I ought to be talking about how Ryan Braun will sit out the rest of the season. Heck, I haven’t even mentioned the thing about Brandon Phillips complaining that the team misled him about his last contract yet. But I am just too eager to see what last night’s line-score will look like in this...

Bailey deserved better fate

CINCINNATI Clint Hurdle managed Sunday like it was a Game 7, or at least like a manager who was going to do anything to avoid a fourth straight loss, utilizing five members of his top-rated bullpen over the final three innings Sunday against the Reds. Dusty Baker approached things like a manager whose team is in the midst of 17 games in 17 days, including an upcoming 11-game, 10...

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Reds third base coach Mark Berry moves through Cincinnati's clubhouse with a water bottle in hand pretty much all the time. Lincecum rocked in his first start since no-hitter, Giants fall to Reds in series opener

Tim Lincecum got shelled, Bronson Arroyo was brilliant, and the Reds scored in each of the first seven innings on their way to route the Giants 11-0 in the first game of the series. It didn’t take long for the Reds to end Lincecum’s bid for another no-hitter, as Shin-Soo Choo led off the game with a double, and Derrick Robinson followed it up with a single. Lincecum struck out...

If for some reason you don't like it — I have a feeling this guy really wouldn&...
