Luis Gonzalez has been persona non grata as a spoken name here in the Tasker household. There was that certain bloop hit in 2001 that ruined everything and ended a dynasty. He is used by some to refute the greatness of the great relief pitcher he hit that bloop against (as if). But that was a long time ago. It wasn't Gonzalez's fault that Torre brought the infield in. The fact is that Gonzalez has been gone from the game for five years now. From this seat, his retirement went unnoticed and his career has had little reflection given. The guy was a better player than people remember. May it dare be said that his career was perhaps a hair or a cut below Hall of Fame caliber? The trouble with Luis Gonzalez has been the whispers. He played in the era of steroid use. His 57 homers in 2001 are treated with smirks and proof of his guilt. Plus, he is Hispanic, so that paints him guilty by association. But Gonzalez has vehemently denied ever using and to this observer's knowled...

Brandon McCarthy's license has a problem

Newly-signed Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Brandon McCarthy has an issue with his new Texas drivers license. The photo of the license, tweeted by his wife Amanda with McCarthy's name and address covered, shows the pitcher listed as 6'7"(matching his MLB.com player card) with hazel eyes...and his gender is listed as female. Despite the cloudy nature of the F...

Brandon McCarthy’s New License Lists Him As 6-Foot-7, Hazel-Eyed Female (Photo)

Well, at least we know that Brandon McCarthy knows how to take a joke. The Diamondbacks’ newest pitcher apparently took care of getting his license renewed over the holiday break. There was just one problem, though: The local DMV got its letters mixed up. While McCarthy’s license correctly states that he’s 6-foot-7 and has hazel eyes (we think), the easy party — male or female...

Diamondbacks Rumors: Arizona Will Trade Justin Upton or Jason Kubel

Following the Arizona Diamondbacks surprise signing of free agent Cody Ross, outfielders Justin Upton and Jason Kubel are back on the trading block and “someone will go,” a source tells Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. They will surely be entertaining offers, and as one person familiar with their thinking put it, flat out, "Someone will go.'' The Diamondbacks...

Takashi Saito to Play Back in Japan

Former Major League reliever Takashi Saito will be pitching back in his home country next season.  The 42-year old probably could have found work in the Majors, but he decided to go back to Japan.  He played for the Arizona Diamondbacks last season. According to NPB Tracker, Saito's deal with Tahoko Rakuten wil officially be announced as early as today.  He is to make...

Diamondbacks might look to deal an outfielder

The Arizona Diamondbacks added to a strength by signing free agent outfielder Cody Ross, giving them -- at least for the time being -- six outfielders on a team that usually carries only four. The move appears to be a precursor to another trade, as the signing of right-hander Brandon McCarthy was the week before. Ross, who can play all three outfield positions, gives the D-backs...

Red Sox Rumors: Boston a Fit for Diamondbacks’ Justin Upton?

The Boston Red Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks should pair up for a trade that would center on slugger Justin Upton, according to Jim Bowden of ESPN. Bowden’s proposed trade would send Upton to the Red Sox in exchange for prospects Xander Bogaerts, Matt Barnes and Brandon Jacobs. While the Diamondbacks were able to add a young shortstop in Didi Gregorius when...

Brandon McCarthy’s new driver license lists him as being Female

Brandon McCarthy’s new driver license lists the pitcher as a 6’7″ female. The mistake was noticed by McCarthy’s wife Amanda and was then posted for the twitter world to see. After posting the photo Amanda opted to make waffles with her new waffle iron. Ah, the MLB off season.

Saito signs with team in Japan

Pitcher Takashi Saito, who spent the past seven seasons in the Major Leagues, has signed a one-year contract to play in Japan for the Rakuten Golden Eagles, according to multiple media outlets. Rakuten has also recently signed former Major Leaguers Andruw Jones and Casey McGehee. Saito, who turns 43 in February, spent most of his career playing in Japan before signing with...
