This just in.....Luke Hochevar sucks.  This also just in.......the Kansas City Royals are a bunched of god-damned idiots.  I could just stop there and you would nod silently and go about your day. Instead, let us delve into the latest chapter of whichever of those first two statement you think should be the title of the book.  This chapter reminds you of that hot girl you dated in high school for awhile even though you didn't really like anything else about her.  She was awful but she was hot and so you tolerated the rest of her because HOT GIRLFRIEND (or SEX WITH HOT GIRLFRIEND-adjust accordingly depending on your age at the time).  But in reality she's mostly insufferable (or just crazy) and you're an idiot for staying with her for those few moments that you can simply appreciate hotness and forget about everything else. Earlier this season, I washed my hands of Hochevar and I expected that the Royals would do the same before 2012 ended.  Royals fans who are stil...

Hochevar snaps seven-start winless skid

Kansas City Royals right-hander Luke Hochevar beat the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday for his first victory since July 31. To say he earned it would be a stretch. To say he pitched well would be an exaggeration. However, the Kansas City offense would not let Hochevar lose this one, pounding out 14 hits in a 10-5 victory over the Twins and taking advantage of Ryan Doumit's three...

The Wil Myers debate rages on

The debate inside the Royals' organization rages on about what to do with hot prospect Wil Myers once Triple-A Omaha's playoff run is completed. Do the Royals bring Myers up to the big-league team just to get him a few more at-bats? Or do the Royals save room on the 40-man roster to protect another prospect subject to this fall's Rule 5 draft? It's ongoing almost...

Royals' Perez making his mark at, and behind, plate

Salvador Perez had knee surgery in spring training, and it kept him out of the Kansas City Royals' lineup until June 22. That left a big void in the middle of the batting order and behind the plate. Perez was a major reason the Royals routed the Minnesota Twins 9-1 Tuesday night. He went 2-for-4, drove in a run and scored a run in extending his hitting streak to a career...

Q&A: Ned Yost, Lineup Construction in KC

When Ned Yost fills out his lineup card, he sees a future that is more promising than the present. His Kansas City Royals are near the bottom of the American League in runs scored, but five of the nine starters are 25 or younger, and none is older than 28. Several have all-star potential. The former Milwaukee Brewers manager — now in his third year at the helm in KC — has more...
