There is no question that former Minnesota Twins and California Angels OF Lyman Bostock had his career ended prematurely. He has only 27 when he was shot inside a car he was riding. The bullet was meant for a woman who was also a passenger in the car. He died the nex day, which was 9/24/1978. ——————————————————————————– Bostock was the son of Lyman Bostock Sr., who played in the Negro Leagues in the late 1930s. He started his MLB career in 1975, hitting .282, 0, 29 in 98 games for the Twins. He proceeded to hit .323, 4, 60 in 128 games in 1976, playing CF everyday. 1977 was his breakout season, he hit .336, 14, 90 and added 36 2B, 104 RS and 199 hits. He then left as a free agent, signing with the Angels, the team where former teammate Rod Carew would sign with after the 1979 season. He was having a slightly off-season at the time of the tragedy, hitting .296, 5, 71 in 147 games. At age 27, was he on the downside of his career? Maybe, but the
