o. Nyjer Morgan did the smart thing in telling the Nationals' medical staff that he felt a "sharp pain" in his hip while jogging a couple of days ago, but he has to be wondering if he should have kept his mouth shut. Though an MRI revealed nothing more than inflammation, the Nats put Morgan on the 15-day disabled list following Thursday's game. Morgan, to put it mildly, did not agree with the move.
"It [freaking] sucks," Morgan said. "I feel fine. But, whatever."
The Nationals are expected to purchase the contract of 32-year-old outfielder Kevin Mench from Triple-A to replace Morgan on the roster. Mench last played in the majors in 2008.
