Tampa Bay Rays (62-43) @ Boston Red Sox (63-43) | First pitch: 6:10
vs. David Price, LHP (5-5, 3.75 ERA) Felix Doubront, LHP (7-4, 3.78 ERA)
The Rays have been on a freakin' tear, and so has David Price. The Rays are 8-2 in their last 10, and 19-4 in the month of July. Holy ****! David Price is 4-1 with 3 complete games in his last 5 starts. Holy ****!
The Sox were on their way to a series loss before mother nature gave them a break with a rain-out last week. David Price pitched his most recent complete game in the 3rd game, while Felix Doubront pitched a decent 6 2/3 (6 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K). Napoli, Ortiz, and Salty provided for the bulk to the Sox offense for the series, each getting a pair of hits in game 2. There wasn't much to get excited about last week.
Again, the Sox are graced with the opportunity to go up against David Price for the 2nd time in 5 days. The Sox need this game, badly, to give themselves some breathing room in the division.
They have to watch out for the usual suspects in Evan Longoria and James Loney, while trying to make something out of almost nothing that Price is going to give them.
The Sox are due for a good game against Price, and they will get it tonight. I am about 25% sure of it.
