Manny Ramirez keeps inching his way toward a major league return.
Ramirez jacked a go-ahead, solo homer for Triple-A Round Rock on Friday, and he now has two home runs over his first six games with the Rangers’ minor league affiliate.
The Rangers signed Ramirez, who tore it up in Taiwan earlier this year, to a minor league contract without any real expectations. The thought process was that if he works his way back to the majors and contributes, it’s an added bonus for Texas. If he doesn’t, then no harm, no foul.
Rangers DH Lance Berkman is currently on the disabled list with a hip injury. If Ramirez keeps smacking long balls and feasting on Triple-A pitching, perhaps we’ll get to see Manny on a big league diamond once more.
Check out Manny’s ninth-inning blast in the video below.

It didn’t take long for Manny Ramirez to be tested.
According to Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News, Ramirez and his Triple-A Round Rock teammates were given drug tests in Manny’s first week with the club.
No results from the drug tests have been announced, but results would only be made public if a player tested positive for a banned substance. With that in mind, it appears...

When the Texas Rangers signed Manny Ramirez to a minor league contract half the baseball loving world laughed while the other half called it a savvy move. So far--after six games--it is starting to appear as if the latter half is going to be right.
Manny was killing it in Taiwan earlier this year before leaving that team for a shot at getting back in the Big League. Texas...

Biggest Surprise of 1st Half: The Starting Rotation- Since the start of spring training this season, the strip of highway between Triple A- Round Rock and Arlington has gotten a fair share of use. Getting healthy is key to a Rangers team that went from two straight World Series appearances to an early Wild Card round exit last year, and now it looks like outfielder Craig Gentry and infielder Jeff Baker will be off the disabled list soon after the All-Star break according to T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com.
Gentry, who is sidelined with a fractured left hand, has been taking batting...
The Texas Rangers have already sent right-hander Colby Lewis
out on rehab assignment twice this season. Neither stint in the minors ended
with an activation from the disabled list. Instead, Lewis was shut down each
time after experiencing inflammation in his elbow and triceps. Texas is hoping
the third time proves to be the charm, as Lewis is once again ready to return
The Texas Rangers recently placed starting pitcher Yu Darvish on the disabled list with a strained shoulder. While there was concern
that the injury could keep the right-hander out for an extended stretch, test
results showed nothing out of the ordinary in his injured right trapezius
muscle. The Rangers have said that Darvish is dealing with simple fatigue in
his shoulder and...
Texas Rangers right-hander Justin Grimm was removed from
last night’s contest in the fourth inning after experiencing tightness in his

they don’t expect the ailment to be serious, according to T.R. Sullivan of

Texas starter Justin Grimm has left Friday night's game against the Detroit Tigers with right forearm soreness.
Grimm allowed seven runs in the first two innings but was still in the game in the fourth when Miguel Cabrera singled with one out. The rookie right-hander threw one pitch to Prince Fielder and appeared to grimace, and after a brief conference on the mound, Joseph...
Via the Rays communications department: Tampa Bay Rays left-hander Matt Moore has been named by 2013 American League All-Star manager Jim Leyland to replace Texas Rangers right-hander Yu Darvish on the A.L.’s active roster for the 84th All-Star Game, Major League Baseball announced today. When the Texas Rangers signed Manny Ramirez to a one-year minor league contract, the organization didn’t know what to expect, but 12 days later he could be getting another chance in the big leagues.
Rangers team president Nolan Ryan said that the slugger could be an option for the team after the All-Star break on his weekly radio show on ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM.
During the break,...
DETROIT (AP) -- Justin Verlander held Texas hitless until the seventh inning, and the Detroit Tigers backed their ace with three home runs in a 5-0 victory over the Rangers on Sunday.
Mitch Moreland's two-out double to right-center broke up Verlander's bid for his third career no-hitter. Verlander (10-6) left the game after the seventh with a tight right quad muscle, having...
I don’t remember ever being this relieved to see the All-Star Break. Although I probably say that every year, this year I really mean it. Between the injuries and the fatigue that seems to have infected the remaining players lately, I’m ready for my boys to have a break. I need one too.
The Rangers were nearly no-hit today in Detroit. Not really a surprising statement,...
Max Scherzer's unbeaten run ended Saturday night when the Texas Rangers tagged the Detroit All-Star with his first loss of the season, defeating the Tigers 7-1.
Scherzer (13-1) was trying to become the first pitcher in the majors to start 14-0 since Roger Clemens in 1986. He allowed four runs and eight hits in six innings, walking two and striking out six.
It was Scherzer&...
