The weather in St. Louis, Missouri has been dreadfully hot for the better part of two weeks straight. But when you play Major League Baseball, the games go on as scheduled.
The St. Louis Cardinals and Miami Marlins played their second consecutive matinee game under the scorching hot sun at Busch Stadium. Field temperatures hovered around 120 degrees.
For the most part, players fought through the heat and humidity, but the weather did claim one victim on Sunday afternoon.
Cardinals lefty reliever Marc Rzepczynski started the top of the ninth inning but was unable to finish it due to heat related symptoms. Rzepczynski was dizzy and was having trouble focusing on catcher Tony Cruz's glove.
