Everyone keeps (rightfully) saying he won't begin the 2013 season on the Dodgers' 25-man roster, but Yasiel Puig is trying his damnedest to earn a spot.
He basically murdered a baseball in Sunday's game against the Indians. Here's the video.
Marc Hulet of FanGraphs pointed out something on Saturday while watching Puig. It's an astute observation. Something...

PHOENIX Matt Kemp is expected to play Friday for the first time since off-season surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. But Carl Crawford, the Dodgers' other rehabbing All-Star outfielder, hit a bump in his comeback from reconstructive elbow surgery.

The slider is associated with power. Most times, it's a power pitch thrown by a power pitcher. There are few exceptions to this rule.
Clayton Kershaw came up as a fastball-curveball-changeup pitcher. Some, in the back of their mind, wondered if the three-pitch repertoire would work. Well, Kershaw added a slider to his arsenal, and he took off.
Not surprisingly, pitchers...

When Guggenheim Baseball Management spent 2.15 billion dollars to buy the Dodgers from Frank McCourt last year, lots of things were said about the organization and the rich new world it had just been entered into.
Spending huge amounts of money on player acquisitions and organizational improvements would become routine, and the goal of the new management was to return the Dodgers...
Trading away Carl Crawford, Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett and Nick Punto last August was like taking medication in the midst of a brutal headache. Seven months later, despite some minor residual effects, it’s clear the Red Sox are prepared to tackle the 2013 season with a clear head.
The Dodgers? Not so much.
