It's wedding season and the Seattle Mariners need some positive headlines, so how about a baseball love story today? Our must-read tale comes from my pal Jerry Brewer of the Seattle Times and features an unlikely Romeo — Jason Phillips, who works as the Mariners bullpen catcher. Thirteen months ago, Phillips was doing what he usually does in the Safeco Field — hanging out with a bunch of smelly relief pitchers — when he noticed a beautiful woman in the stands. Not wanting to be that guy, Phillips only decided to introduce himself after pledging he'd do so if the game went into extra innings. And when it did, he took it as a sign.
