NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Jonathan Irwin reports on the second M’s game of the series versus the Cleveland Indians. Tough day for the arms. Steve Delabar started things off with a blown save in the 8th. After Seattle finally recaptured the lead in the 11th, they handed the ball over to closer Brandon League. He was horrible. Ichiro Suzuki has just 5 RBI in May. Not good from the #3 spot.

Indians closer rips team's fans

Indians closer Chris Perez was fired up after a win and let the fans have it. He ripped them pretty good on a few different issues.

Name to Know- Lucas Luetge

I am a baseball junkie and therefore love following players signed to minor league contracts, claimed off waivers, or selected in the Rule 5 draft.  The latter brings me to the subject of today's post- Lucas Luetge. The 25 year old left-handed reliever has appeared in 15 games for the Seattle Mariners this season and has yet to allow an earned run- 10.1 IP,12 K, 0.00 ERA, 1.35...

Mariners pitcher Kevin Millwood throws his first shutout in almost nine years.

DENVER—It’s taken him almost nine years but Seattle Mariners right-hander Kevin Millwood pitched a complete game against the Colorado Rockies. His no-hitter was reduced to a shutout in the sixth when third baseman Kyle Seager could not complete a sensational yet makeable play that popped out of his glove two outs deep into the inning. Tribe pitchers surrendering far too many walks

At the start of play Friday night, Indians pitchers had walked 148 batters this season. Among American League teams, only Toronto (151) had walked more. Making that statistic even more distressing for the Indians is that the top two starters in their rotation both rank in the top three in the league in walks. No. 2 starter Ubaldo Jimenez leads the league in walks and No. 1 starter...

Box Score: Indians 2, Marlins 0

The Indians came back to get Game 2 of their interleague series against the Miami Marlins on Saturday afternoon, winning 2-0. Jeanmar Gomez was spectacular for the Tribe, pitching 6.1 innings of shutout ball before handing it over to a bullpen that kept the Fish off the board. Asdrubal Cabrera’s bomb to right proved to be the difference in the 4th inning, but Jason Kipnis added...

Marlins hope to keep tormenting Indians

Fifteen years ago this fall, the Florida Marlins beat the Cleveland Indians in seven games to win their first World Series. Since then, the Marlins have remained successful in their rare meetings with the Indians. Carlos Zambrano hopes for another strong outing as the Miami Marlins look to prevent the AL Central-leading Indians from a season-high fifth straight victory Friday night...

Series Preview: Marlins at Indians 5/18-20

The Indians sweep of Seattle brings their winning streak to 4, immediately after having a three game losing streak. This streak has moved the Indians to 4 games ahead of the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central. This is thanks to the series sweep of the Tigers by the Minnesota Twins. There will be a few familiar faces when the Indians play the Marlins as former central division foes...

While We’re Waiting… Umpire/player tension, Indians’ announcers and USFL talent

While We’re Waiting serves as the early morning gathering of WFNY-esque information for your viewing pleasure. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email at tips@waitingfornextyear.com. An idea for umpire/player relations- “Both sides have their points. Players are too short with umpires. Baseball is not just the only sport that allows players to talk...

Indians 6 Mariners 5: Beating The Grinder With Some Progressive Field Magic

When Eric Wedge was the manager of the Indians, I have to admit, I was a fan. I know I was in the minority, but I always liked the fact that he never got too high or too low. He was the same guy, win or lose. I look back at his time here now differently. He made the playoffs just once (2007) and had a winning record twice (2005, 2007) in seven years. He wasn’t exactly Rex Ryan...
