I'm pretty sure Mark Teixeira is doing it wrong. The New York Yankees slugger opened up to the Wall Street Journal, admitting that, among other things, he is, well...not the player he used to be."Maybe I'm slowing down a tick. Look, I'm not going to play forever," the 32-year-old said.  "Eventually you start, I don't want to say declining, but it gets harder and harder to put up 30 (home runs) and 100 (RBI)."He also admitted to being overpaid."I have no problem with anybody in New York, any fan, saying you're overpaid. Because I am," Teixeira said. "My first six years, before I was a free agent, I was very valuable. But there's nothing you can do that can justify a $20 million contract."Ummm...come again. Why, you ask, would the five-time Gold Glove winner openly discuss his inability to perform at what used to be a top notch level?  My guess...to take everyone's eyes off this.Earlier in the week, the first baseman hit the stage as part of the Broadway hit "Rock of Ages" rocking a vest that would make Kenny Powers proud."I was born in 1980 and rocking out as a young pup in Severna Park, Maryland, to some of the great '80s songs," Teixeira told the New York Daily News. "It was a good time."I'm sure it was a good time and all, but c'mon, dude, in the wake of the latest "A-Rod did steroids" stories, the last thing the Bronx Bombers need right now is someone admitting they're making too much money and out there hitting the stage and not the batting cages. Also, lose the headband.

Mark Teixeira knows he’s overpaid, aging

Mark Teixeira gave a thoroughly honest interview to the Wall Street Journal in which he admitted that he is overpaid and aging. Teixeira signed an eight-year, $180 million contract with the New York Yankees prior to the 2009 season. He has four seasons left under the current deal, and he is scheduled to earn $22.5 million each year. Though he was one of the most productive first...

Teixeira admits to being overpaid.

Mark Teixeira says he is “overpaid.”   Usually when athletes talk about their contracts, they are complaining about how small it is, but, apparently, Mark Teixeira is not one of those athletes. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, he stated that he is overpaid and “on the backside of [his] career.” Talk about honesty. A week following a Yankee player who has...

Mark Teixeira: I Know I am Overpaid

It’s not too often you hear a player in any sport admit that he is probably overpaid. Market determines value, and whatever you were able to get at the time of free agency is what you were worth. At least, in my opinion. But enter New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira, who recently opened [...]

Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez injected by clinic operator

New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez was injected with performance-enhancing drugs as recently as last spring by Anthony Bosch, operator of the now-infamous Biogenesis of America clinic in south Florida, according to an “Outside the Lines” report. The texts, the source said, usually came late at night, telling Anthony Bosch to come to the house. Bosch would...

Yankees Injury Update Throughout 2012 and early 2013, the New York Yankees saw big injuries happen to big-name players. Spring Training 2013 begins on Saturday, February 16, and the Yankees are counting on those big names to come back strong and push the team into the postseason once again. Here is an update on the injuries to the Yankee’s key players. Derek Jeter...

Alex Rodriguez Personally Injected By Bosch With PEDs

The disturbing allegations of PED usage are just getting worse and more detailed for Alex Rodriguez. By now this story has been covered by almost every angle and in most cases it feels like we are in a space-time continuum that has warped us back to 2005. At this point fans of Alex Rodriguez and the Yankees don’t need to hear an apology, they don’t need to hear agents or PR...

Report: Clinic operator injected Rodriguez

New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez received personal service at his home in Florida for injections of performance-enhancing injections from a clinic under investigation by Major League Baseball, ESPN reported Friday. Anthony Bosch, who operated the Biogenesis of America clinic in Coral Gables, attended to Rodriguez's needs on numerous visits and personally administered...

Yankees Officially Sign Travis Hafner

From Yankees.com: The Yankees on Friday finalized a one-year contract with free-agent slugger Travis Hafner, who is expected to help fill the club's designated hitter slot for the 2013 season. Hafner, 35, batted .228 with 12 home runs and 34 RBIs in 64 games for the Indians last season. Cleveland cut ties with Hafner in October, choosing to pay the left-handed hitter a $2...

Rodriguez rehabbing in New York and Miami

New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez is rehabilitating his surgery-repaired left hip in New York and Miami, a source told the New York Daily News. The Daily News reported Saturday that Rodriguez is keeping a low profile since it was revealed last week that Major League Baseball is investigating his links to a South Florida anti-aging clinic run by Anthony Bosch. Rodriguez...

Alex Rodriguez Accused Of Not Cheating Well

On Tuesday, the Miami New Times reported that Alex Rodriguez had been receiving performance enhancing drugs from a wellness clinic in Miami, Florida. This really blows if you are a New York Yankee fan because that means you have to defend the Yankees’ 2009 World Series championship against people that will say it was tainted. It also blows because A-Rod has definitely not been...

Alex Rodriguez Joins Carl Crawford, Albert Pujols on List of Awful MLB Contracts Entering 2013 Season (Photos)

Alex Rodriguez has been making news lately for all the wrong reasons. With a hip issue and now PED allegations to boot, it’s probably safe to assume the Yankees aren’t too thrilled about paying the slugger $114 million over the next five years. Rodriguez’s contract isn’t the only awful one in baseball, though. In fact, there are plenty of terrible contracts floating around...

1936 Yankees more productive than Murderers Row

Plenty has been said about the 1927 New York Yankees classifying them as the greatest offensive team in the history of Major League Baseball. Whenever a team is putting up all time numbers over the course of a season, they are always compared to the 1927 Yankees. When the Pittsburgh Pirates started trading away players in their prime in the late 2000s, General Manager Neal Huntington...

Travis Hafner Will Be the Latest Vet to Revive Career With The Yankees

So is anyone sick of talking about Alex Rodriguez yet? Since the answer to that question is probably yes, here is some more Yankee news that should interest fans.  On Thursday, the Yankees and former Cleveland Indian Travis Hafner agreed to a one year deal worth about $2 million which could turn to $4 million based on plate appearances.  Hafner is expected to fill the role that...

A-Rod reportedly received injections from Anthony Bosch

Alex Rodriguez is denying allegations that he received performance-enhancing drugs from Anthony Bosch’s Biogenesis company, but the evidence against him is mounting. On Tuesday, the Miami New Times reported that A-Rod was one of many MLB players who ordered performance-enhancing drugs (in many cases testosterone) from the now-defunct Biogenesis company. Their report was based on...

America’s Game (Courtesy of Wikimedia Commons) The wait is over.  ESPN’s two-week orgy of analysis is mercifully done and we can finally watch the Ravens and the 49ers battle in Super Bowl XLVII.  We thought it would be fun to check in with some Yankees and ask them what their picks were for the Big Game.  Check them out.  (Watch Brosius guess the exact score–he is so clutch...
