Tuesday brought the acquisition of a veteran outfielder to the young Florida Marlins ball club. Outfielder Mike Cameron, who was designated for assignment by the Boston Red Sox on June 30th. The journeyman outfielder was originally scheduled to face left-handers this year for the team but a terrible .143 batting average proved to be his down fall. The Marlins will send cash or a player to be named later as part of the deal. The 38-year old has a chance to become an everyday player if he produces and its even more of a possibility now since Chris Coghlan will be on the shelf longer than originally expected. Cameron was 0-for-1 in his first appearance Wednesday in the 7-6 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.
