MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Aramis Ramirez hit a two-run homer off Heath Bell in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the Milwaukee Brewers to a 13-12 win over the Miami Marlins on Tuesday. Livan Hernandez (2-1) pitched the 10th and picked up the win. He struck out John Buck, got Scott Cousins to fly out to center, but Jose Reyes connected on a 3-1 pitch and homered into the second tier above the Marlins bullpen in right. Donovan Solano struck out to end the inning. Bell (2-4) came on in the bottom of the 10th. Carlos Gomez walked. Norichika Aoki sent a 3-2 pitch to the warning track in center, but Cousins caught it. Ryan Braun, who hit a three-run in the sixth, struck out and on the play Aoki stole second. Ramirez hit a 0-1 pitch off the wall in center. His offense lifted the Brewers, who had blown a seven-run lead.

Zack Grienke trade rumors: Cardinals, Braves and Rangers

Milwaukee Brewers ace Zack Greinke is set to be a free agent at the end of the season and it likely to be dealt before the July 31st MLB trade deadline. The 28 year old Greinke currently sports a record of 9-2 with a 3.08 ERA with 106 strikeouts in 108 innings pitched. Despite those stellar numbers Greinke was not selected for the All-Star team. ”There’s so many good starters...

1B/OF Carlos Lee to the Miami Marlins

It is all but set in stone that the Miami Marlins will receive the 36 year old outfielder and first basemen Carlos Lee for minor league players in 3B Matt Dominguez and Rob Rasmussen. What Lee brings to the table is not season altering, but is a supplemental bat to take care of business while RF Giancarlo Stanton is out and 1B Gaby Sanchez continues his horrible...

Domino-effect makes Braun an ASG starter

MILWAUKEE With Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp officially out of next week's All-Star game, Braves third baseman Chipper Jones was announced to take his place. That means Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun, having finished third on the players' ballot, will officially start in the outfield for the National League. This starting nod will be Braun's fifth consecutive in All...

Ozzie Guillen goes off on Marlins after loss, defends Heath Bell’s blown save

The All-Star break can’t seem to get here fast enough for the Marlins. The past month or so has been horrible for Ozzie Guillen’s squad, as they have managed only nine wins since June 1. After showing signs of life recently and putting together a short four-game winning streak, the Marlins have lost two close games in the row to the Brewers. On Tuesday night, closer Heath Bell...

Marlins going for series split in Milwaukee

The Miami Marlins were supposed to challenge for the NL East title this season, but they're well back of the division lead with half the season gone. Perhaps the addition of first baseman Carlos Lee can provide a second-half boost. With Lee expected to make his Marlins debut Thursday, Miami will try to salvage a split of this four-game series with the host Milwaukee Brewers...

Braun: 'It's a tremendous honor'

MILWAUKEE For Brewers star left fielder Ryan Braun, his fifth All-Star game invite -- a selection that was decided by player vote on Sunday -- put him in a special class of Milwaukee Brewers. That's because only two other Brewers' greats, Robin Yount and Cecil Cooper, can claim a similar honor in a Milwaukee uniform. This year, however, Braun wasn't elected as a starter...

Pitcher Profile: Carlos Zambrano is Again a Big Zzzzzz

Heading into this fantasy season, Carlos Zambrano had all the momentum of three red bulls and a pot of coffee. Flashing a high K-rate in Spring Training and a change of scenery to the flamboyant Marlins Park had a lot of sleeper buzz going around the water cooler. And, for the first month and a half of the season, all the sleeper talk was looking pretty damn founded. Sporting an...

FanGraphs Prospect Stock Watch – 07/03/12

Matt Dominguez, 3B, Miami Marlins Current Level: AAA 2012 Top 15 Prospects Ranking: 6th Current Value: Down Dominguez was a 2007 first round draft pick and one of three prep third basemen taken in the first 12 picks of that draft – including his high school teammate Mike Moustakas. The latter player is now the regular third baseman for the Kansas City Royals while Dominguez (and...

Marlines OF Stanton misses game with sore knee

Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton missed Tuesday's game with the Milwaukee Brewers because of a sore right knee. The move was precautionary and shouldn't impact his first appearance in next week's All-Star game or Home Run Derby. ''We thought he would take batting practice, see how he feels, but I don't want to take any chances,'' Marlins...

Marlins Acquire Carlos Lee

Carlos Lee is heading to Miami. While the 36-year-old first baseman vetoed a trade to the Los Angeles Dodgers last week, Lee accepted a deal that sent him to the Miami Marlins on Wednesday. Lee is clearly on the decline, but his .286/.336/.412 line is a nice upgrade over the .236/.292/.359 line put up by Marlins’ first basemen this season. Still, the Marlins are 39-42, and currently...

Crazy Trade Idea: Dan Haren for Zack Greinke

'Tis the season for trade speculation.  Half-assed ideas are now the order of the day and I think I might have the king of them all. The rumor mills currently seem to think that the Angels are going to be relatively quiet at the trade deadline.  They have a lot of wants and desires, but the consensus is that they don't have the financial wiggle room to make that happen...

Greinke Wasn’t Snubbed

Yup, I said!  Zack Greinke did not deserve to be an All-Star in the 2012!  I know, his numbers (entering Sunday) may say otherwise as he was 9-2 with a 2.82 ERA.  Most years, those digits put you in line with a Cy-Young award…this year is different. Zack Greinke (MIL) – 9-3/2.82 ERA/1.167 WHIP/102 innings/102 SO/22 BB Tony La Russa (yes, even typing that name bothers me...

Ozzie Guillen: ‘How about the rest of the (bleeps)?’

It has been a few weeks since the last vulgar tirade from Miami Marlins’ manger Ozzie Guillen, and let’s just say that he defintely filled the void last night after the Marlins lost 13-12 to the Brewers. To set the stage for you, the Marlins held a modest 2-0 lead before Anibel Sanchez was ripped, [...]

Game Picks - Wednesday, July 4, 2012

Happy 236th birthday, America! When this picker went to bed last night, the picks sat at 8-3 and a good day seemed to be on its way. The Yankees' loss was frustrating. The Miami pick was right until Heath Bell stepped on the mound. And the Tigers continued their personal crusade to give this picker constipation. But otherwise, things were going well. Not a single pick went...
