MIAMI (AP) -- The Miami Marlins acquired left-hander Wade LeBlanc from the San Diego Padres on Tuesday for catcher John Baker.
LeBlanc went 5-6 with a 4.63 ERA for the Padres last season, winning three of his last four decisions. In parts of four seasons with the Padres, LeBlanc went 17-22 with a 4.54 ERA, starting 52 times and coming in as a reliever twice.
Baker was limited to 16 games last season after having elbow reconstruction surgery in September 2010. He was 2 for 13, all but one of those at-bats coming as a pinch-hitter. In 212 career games with the Marlins, Baker batted .271 with 14 home runs and 89 RBIs.

Baker was an effective offensive player for the Marlins in 2008 and 2009 but scored weakly on defense as far...

The Marlins and Padres managed to sneak in a little one-for-one trade just before the Thanksgiving holiday, with catcher John Baker heading to San Diego in exchange for left-handed pitcher Wade LeBlanc.
As you know, the Padres were simply horrendous on offense in 2011. Among the 30 clubs, they ranked 29th in AVG (.237), 28th in OBP (.305), 29th in SLG (.349), 30th in ISO (.112),...

The trade doesn’t qualify as the kind of big splash the Marlins are hoping to make. But in dealing catcher John Baker to the San Diego Padres on Tuesday for left-handed starting pitcher Wade LeBlanc, the Marlins sought to rectify one of their glaring shortcomings — a lack of upper-level pitching depth within the organization.
John Baker is a .271 career hitter, although he missed most of the past two seasons due to elbow injury
In a move to add a left-handed bat and depth at the catching position, the Padres dealt left-handed pitcher Wade LeBlanc to the Marlins for catcher John Baker on Tuesday.
We are less than 12 hours away from when teams have to submit arbitration offers to players. The Padres have two on the line in Heath Bell and Aaron Harang. And I love when I wake up to find so many stories pop up over night. Today is going to be a large post so without further ado here are your links for today:
