For the last few months, the Miami Marlins have been insistent on the fact that Giancarlo Stanton would not be available.  He is under team control through 2017, so the Marlins can expect to afford him for the next few seasons.  However, since their fire sale began, there has been increasing interest in Stanton.  Now, the Marlins may be changing their tune a bit. According to ESPN's Jim Bowden, the Marlins are willing to listen to offers on Stanton, but they are not actively shopping him. Dan Jennings Marlins AGM told us they will listen to all offers on Giancarlo Stanton but they're not shopping him and don't want to move him — JIM BOWDEN (@JimBowdenESPNxm) December 30, 2012 Stanton was far and away the Marlins best player in 2012.  He finished the year with a .290/.361/.608 line.  His slugging percentage led all of the National League.  Stanton hit a career-high 37 home runs and was elected to his first All-Star Game.  He was unable to play in the All-Star Game, though, because of injury.  In July, Stanton underwent arthroscopic surgery to clean up his right knee.  He missed about a month of the season in total and still hit 37 home runs. Stanton will command a large raise when he hits arbitration eligibility in 2014, but for now the Marlins can afford him.  They have made it clear they're not willing to pay high salaries for very long unless they immediately win.  So, Stanton could be a trade chip just in the fact that this is the last year the Marlins can pay him at or near league minimum.
