Earlier this afternoon, the Chicago Cubs sent Matt Garza to the Texas Rangers for  P C.J. Edwards, 3B/OF Mike Olt, P Justin Grimm and two players to be named later. This trade is a great deal for both sides. Garza was a known commodity on a pitcher thin market and was most definitely going to be traded. Texas was in the running for him last season, until he injured himself in July and was out for the rest of the season. Garza gives the Rangers a top of the rotation pitcher to create a nice 1-2 punch with Yu Darvish, as well as Derek Holland and Alexi Ogando returning from the DL soon. Although he will become a free agent at the end of the season, Garza can boost the Rangers for a pennant run with the possibility of re-signing him. The Cubs had to make this deal before the end of the night. Garza was scheduled to start tonight against the Diamondbacks, but after injuring himself last year, the Cubs had to get all the value they could before anything happened. Last season, Mike Olt was a
