Before there was this kid named Bryce, there was Matt Wieters. The past is always a bit murky, but it seemed in 2009 that Matt Wieters was the most highly anticipated rookie of his era. There is a remembrance of outrage when the Orioles gave homage to the almighty dollars clock and sent him to Triple-A to start the 2009 season after he has mashed his way through Double and Triple-A ball in 2008. And sure enough, the Orioles brought Wieters up after the clock allowed the Orioles another season of Wieters control. And Matt Wieters did not disappoint in his first 96 games for the Orioles in 2009. He wasn't gangbusters, but his more than half a season seemed to hold promise that he was the real deal. By 2010, Wieters had established himself as the number one catcher for the Orioles and sure enough, he played 130 games for his first full season. But the season was a disappointment. Wieters only batted .249 that year with an on-base percentage of only .319. Wieters only slugged .37...

The Orioles Do the Improbable. Again. They Win Late Against the White Sox...
It has been an improbable start to the Orioles’ season so far. They earned another come-from-behind victory, this one in even more dramatic fashion than previously this season on Monday The Orioles defeated the Chicago White Sox, 10-4, in ten innings as they used the long ball late to take the first contest in a three-game set. As has been noted over and over again during the...
Line of the Day: Matt Wieters
April 16, 2012: Matt Wieters went 3-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI and powered the Baltimore Orioles to a 10-4 extra-innings victory over the Chicago White Sox. His second home run of the game was also his first career grand slam.
Line: 4 AB | 2 R | 3 H | 5 RBI; 2 HR | 2 BB
My fantasy perspective: Wieters came into the season as the fourth-ranked catcher and 82nd player overall...
Is Matt Wieters The Best Catcher In Baseball?
Maybe*. If he keeps hitting .344/.462/.750, then I like his chances to take that crown (as well as the MVP award – and maybe the Cy Young). * Just want to make sure it's clear that the hot start is nice but only slightly helps Wieters' cause - he was already probably one of the best catchers in baseball, and the leap to the top would have been a relatively short one in...
Waiver Wire: Nolan Reimold, OF, Baltimore Orioles
Nolan Reimold hit his fourth homer of the season last night.  That’s as many as Adrian Gonzalez and Prince Fielder combined.  So what if it’s not even a month into the season, it’s fun to think about.
That being said, he is only owned in 16 percent of ESPN fantasy baseball leagues and 37 percent of Yahoo! fantasy baseball leagues. Â This is a travesty for a guy who has 4...
Matusz and Gregg Flatline in Toronto, O's Can't Sweep Jays
It was an ugly day for the Orioles, as they saw their brief two-game win streak snapped and a chance of a series sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays disappear. The Orioles wound up losing to the Jays this afternoon, 9-2, and the role of Brian Matusz in the starting rotation may in be in question. I had high hopes for him coming into the 2012 season; however, while Matsuz has shown...
Orioles 3, White Sox 2
Nolan Reimold homered for the fourth consecutive game and made a terrific diving catch in left field, helping the Baltimore Orioles beat the Chicago White Sox 3-2 on Tuesday night.
Baltimore had just one hit before Robert Andino singled with one out in the sixth. Reimold then hit a drive to left-center off John Danks, giving the Orioles a 2-0 lead. J.J. Hardy followed with a drive...
Reimold and Hardy Help O's and Chen Win...
So, the Orioles are only eleven games into the 2012 season. I felt that they would struggle throughout the season considering the state of their pitching; however, so far that has been wrong.
The Baltimore Orioles won again in Chicago as they defeated the Chicago White Sox, in a razor thin 3-2 victory. Wei-Yin Chen earned his first major victory, and the bullpen – Darren Oâ...
Minor Leaguer Ohlman Suspended; Dylan Bundy Dominates Again
Looks like an O's minor leaguer has been suspended for drug use...
From the Orioles: The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that Baltimore Orioles Minor League catcher Michael Ohlman has received a 50-game suspension after a second violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program for a drug of abuse.
The suspension of Ohlman,...
Orioles Take Two of Three From Blue Jays
I only got to see the tail end of the first two games, but the Orioles taking the series in Toronto was both unexpected (given they were something like 5-290 there recently) and awesome. Nolan Reimold went 5-10 with two doubles and two homers (both in the top of the 9th - clutch!) in the O's two wins (and then sat for game three as Endy Chavez went 0-4 out of the lead-off spot...

The Orioles today announced that they have claimed CA LUIS EXPOSITO on waivers from Boston.

Game 10: Orioles 10, White Sox 4
The O's road-trip started out on the right foot, and begin a four-game set in Chicago as the middle leg in their road trip. The Good:
Jake Arrieta was once again very impressive. His fastball was 93-96, and he threw it by people (5 total whiffs). The two-seamer showed some good movement (there was one in particular the tailed back over the black on the outside corner at 96...

The Baltimore Orioles have claimed catcher Luis Exposito off waivers from the Boston Red Sox. To make room in the roster for Exposito the Orioles designated Josh Bell for assignment.

Orioles 10, White Sox 4(10)
Matt Wieters homered twice, including a 10th-inning grand slam, lifting the Baltimore Orioles to a come-from-behind 10-4 win over the Chicago White Sox on Monday night.
The White Sox took a 4-1 lead into the eighth, but Baltimore hit three solo homers against a pair of relievers to send the game into extra innings.
Chicago reliever Zach Stewart (0-1) allowed six runs in the 10th...
