Joe Mauer has been locked in at the plate lately for the Minnesota Twins.
Given his history against Chicago White Sox scheduled starter Gavin Floyd, he seems to be in good shape to extend his hitting streak to 11 games Sunday at U.S. Cellular Field.
After Friday's series opener was postponed because of cold and windy conditions, the Twins (7-7) won 2-1 in 10 innings Saturday. Ryan Doumit led off the 10th with a double and came around to score the winning run on Alexei Ramirez's throwing error.
It was the third straight victory for Minnesota, though it hadn't played since Tuesday because of a pair of postponements and a scheduled off day.
"It has been a weird stretch," Ron Gardenhire told the Twins' official website. "You just have to scratch your way through it and get a win one way or another."
Despite three straight days off, Mauer didn't seem to miss a beat Saturday, going 2 for 4 with a pair of walks. The three-time AL batting champ h...
BEST OF MAXIM
For Josh Willingham, that flub in the fourth was an eternity ago when he came to the plate in a big spot for the Minnesota Twins.
It was just about coming up with another clutch hit.
Willingham atoned for an earlier misplay with a tiebreaking three-run double in Minnesota's four-run seventh inning, leading the Twins to a 5-3 victory over the slumping Chicago White Sox on Sunday...
The Minnesota Twins can't catch a break from the weather.
The Twins' series opener in Chicago against the White Sox on Friday was called off due to a forecast of cold, windy weather. It's the third time this week that bad weather has kept Minnesota off the field:
On Sunday, the Twins' home game against the Mets was washed out and on Wednesday, their series finale...
Ryan Doumit doubled and scored the go-ahead run in the 10th inning on Alexei Ramirez's throwing error, and the Minnesota Twins beat the Chicago White Sox 2-1 on Saturday.
Doumit led off with a double off Hector Santiago (0-1). After Aaron Hicks popped up a bunt attempt, Eduardo Escobar hit a slow grounder that shortstop Ramirez fielded cleanly but bounced his throw to first...
The White Sox were scheduled to start a three-game weekend series against the division foe Minnesota Twins on Friday before the game got postponed until a later date (likely August).
Still, a two-game series will kick off at US Cellular Field on Saturday.
The opener of the series and the ten game homestand will see Jake Peavy (2-1, 3.93 ERA) taking...
Struggling a little here to get woke up to bring you this game. It was a heartbreaking loss in extra innings yesterday, so lets hope the boys have put it behind them and we can get a win today. Fingers crossed we can get a video feed today. As far as I know it’s still Gavin Floyd with the pass to the mound today.
A year ago today Philip Humber threw the...
You will find dugout notes during the home stands when the boys are at The Cell. Road trip notes as we travel. Just a reminder that I will not be with you for the game on ANZAC Day but there will be a Dugout Notes later in the day.
**Game One with the Minnesota Twins
The opening game of the series was postponed due to extreme cold and rain. Make up date is yet to be announced...
After Friday's rain out, the White Sox got their series started at home against the Minnesota Twins Saturday afternoon, but unfortunately it was a familiar sight for 2013 Sox followers.
It was yet another pitcher's duel, as both Jake Peavy and Vance Worley brought their A-games.
Both pitchers went 7 innings, allowing only one run before handing it over to their...
Yo, hey. I might do some radio tomorrow. You people better listen. Put it on your calendar for 3pm.
Aaron Hicks is off to a slow start, but how concerned should we really be?
MLS broadcasts are a tight ship.
Don’t know if you’ve seen this, but here is a Lithuanian hockey player doing a little head hunting. Of a referee.
Minnesota 2, Chicago 1 (10 innings) &...
The White Sox dropped the second game of this weather-abbreviated three-game set to the Minnesota Twins as the bullpen did not do their job Sunday afternoon.
"Good Gavin" Floyd showed up for the first time this season, as he tossed six innings of one-run ball. He let up three walks, only three hits, and six strikeouts as he left the game late with his team leading...
The Minnesota Twins and Miami Marlins both finished at the bottom of their respective divisions in 2012. While things appear to be looking up for the Twins, the Marlins may be even worse off.
Minnesota can match its longest winning streak from 2012 with a victory Monday night against Miami as the teams begin a two-game series at Target Field.
A 5-3 road win against the White Sox...
