The Detroit Tigers wanted to make sure that pitcher Max Scherzer had an extremely accurate bobblehead when they gave one away in his honor.  As you can see from the close-up of the bobblehead, the bobblehead has two different color eyes, just like Scherzer does in real life.  It makes for one really accurate, kind of freaky bobblehead doll. Scherzer has been having a career year and is the first pitcher to start 12-0 since Roger Clemens did it in 1986. [@CorkGaines]

Leyland angry over Cabrera brushback: ‘There’s a price to pay for that’

Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland is angry after Tampa Bay Rays closer Fernando Rodney threw an in-tight-and-up pitch that sent Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera to back off the plate during the at-bat. “I don’t care about throwing inside, but I don’t like it up there,” Leyland said via MLive.com.

Prince Fielder’s home run looks to take down Tropicana catwalk (VIDEO)

Tigers slugger Prince Fielder hit a home run Friday on a 1-0 count that probably would be well on it’s way to Cuba if it wasn’t for that dump of a stadium in Tampa. In fact, Prince’s homer looked to take down Tropicana as it bounced off the the right field catwalk to give the Tigers a 6-3 lead in the 8th inning. Kinda reminds you of this home run his dad hit years ago at County...

Tigers recall reliever Bruce Rondon from Triple-A

The Detroit Tigers have recalled reliever Bruce Rondon from Triple-A Toledo. The move was announced before Friday night's game at Tampa Bay. Right-hander Evan Reed was optioned to Toledo. Rondon went 1-1 with 14 saves in 30 games with Toledo. ''He's not being brought back as a closer,'' Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. ''Sixth, seventh, sometimes...

Video: Miguel Cabrera jacks home run into Tampa Bay rays tank

Detroit Tigers superstar Miguel Cabrera went HAM on this Tampa Bay pitch, crushing a home run into the stadium swimming pool.

Game 2013.81: Tigers at Blue Jays

43-37, 1st place tie with Cleveland. The Detroit Tigers first went to 6 games over .500 on May 3 with a dramatic win over the Houston Astros. And here we are at 6 games over .500 again. Hmmm. Quite a few teams would be happy to say that. Hmmm. Tigers. Aren’t they that team with Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder and Justin Verlander? Hmmm. A Monday day game seems a bit odd, but...

Leyland and Bullpens

I’ve never met Jim Leyland personally. I’m sure he’s a swell guy (perhaps Tom in Lakeland can give us a few anecdotes). For the most part, I like what he does with the team. But I think he’s wrong about the bullpen. Can you name a single reliever from the Tigers’ system that’s seen some kind of lasting success in a Tigers uniform? Our best relievers in recent history...

Prince Fielder’s Monster Home Run Nails Tropicana Catwalk

Prince Fielder launched a home run an estimated 430-feet or so, but no one will ever know because the pesky catwalk at Tropicana Field got in the way. The moon shot came off of a Cesar Ramos pitch in the eighth inning and could easily be the longest we have seen this year. Article found on: Next Impulse Sports

Miguel Cabrera's outburst befuddles victorious Rays

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. There seemed to be heated words from the Detroit Tigers Miguel Cabrera toward the Tampa Bay Rays dugout Saturday, but there are few answers as to why. Cabrera, who went 1 for 4, struck out on five pitches against reliever Fernando Rodney in the 10th inning of the Rays 4-3 victory over the Tigers at Tropicana Field. After the sequence, Cabrera appeared to jaw...

Miguel Cabrera sends long home run into rays tank

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. Miguel Cabrera is no stranger to uncommon displays of strength. The reigning Triple Crown winner and American League MVP is baseballs most dangerous player, and long home runs are nothing new to him. But the Detroit Tigers star accomplished a wet career-first Sunday. He hit a 424-foot solo home run into the Rays Touch Tank behind the right-center wall at Tropicana...

Retaliation coming after Rodney buzzes the tower on Cabrera?

The Tigers seem to be pretty upset about last night’s 4-3 extra innings loss at the hands of the Rays, but it isn’t the loss alone that’s not sitting well with the team especially manager Jim Leyland and slugger Miguel Cabrera. Much of the tension is stemming from the 10th inning when former Tiger reliever Fernando Rodney threw a high and tight pitch to Cabrera who didn’t...

Game 2013.80: Tigers at Rays

43-36, 1st place, 1 game up on Cle… Well, last night was incredibly disappointing, and the Rondon outing led to an outcry of criticism regarding Leyland’s bullpen management.  Hop over here if you want to discuss. Even more concerning that the bullpen issue is Justin Verlander. Yes, he went 8 and allowed only 2 ER, but he allowed 9 hits and 4 walks. That’s a 1.625 WHIP. With...

Tigers-Rays Preview

Looking to avoid matching their longest losing streak of the season, the Detroit Tigers appear to be sending the right pitcher to the mound. Max Scherzer will try to become the majors' first 12-game winner and snap Detroit's three-game skid Friday night in the opener of a three-game road series against the Tampa Bay Rays. With a 3-1, 10-inning loss to the Angels on Thursday...
