For a second straight game, the White Sox' offense was sufficient. I know ... unbelievable! But on Friday night, for once, the pitching just wasn't good enough as the Sox dropped the opener of the weekend series to the Angels, 7-5. The game started off well once again for the south siders, as Alejandro De Aza's power surge continued. He led off the bottom of the first inning with his seventh home run of the year to put Dylan Axelrod and the good guys out in front. But then in the top of the third inning, Axelrod got touched up for five hits and four runs, as the game suddenly shifted into their hands. The inning was highlighted by Mike Trout, Albert Pujols, and Mark Trumbo RBI-hits. Sometimes, you're just not going to get through the middle of that scary order unscathed. After a Brendan Harris fourth inning home run put the Angels on top 5-1, the Sox finally showed some life in the bottom of the fourth. After an Alex Rios double and walks to Adam Dunn and Paul Konerko, the White Sox had the bases loaded and nobody out. But a Conor Gillaspie strikeout had them clinging to life. Thankfully, Angels' pitcher Bobby Enright threw a wild pitch to score Rios from third base before Dayan Viciedo, in his first game back from the disabled list, doubled home two more runs. Then a Tyler Flowers two-out RBI single (bringing home Tank) tied the game at five with White Sox faithful in US Cellular Field finally having as much to cheer for as they deserve. But then things got ugly in the seventh inning ... The inning started off with Hank Cogner reaching first on a throwing error by Conor Gillaspie before Matt Lindstrom came in to relieve Axelrod, who had certainly battled hard if nothing else. A strikeout and a Mike Trout RBI single later, the Halos took the lead and still had runners at the corners. A Tyler Flowers past ball made it 7-5 LA before Lindstrom did a nice job of escaping the inning. Unfortunately, the deficit was too much for the White Sox to overcome, as the White Sox went very quietly in the final few innings to fall to 14-19. Box Score  -  Play-By-Play  -  Photos  -  Video
