Trenton 5, Binghamton 0
The Binghamton Mets were held to two hits and Cory Mazzoni was tagged for five runs in a 5-0 loss to the Trenton Thunder Monday night at Arm & Hammer Park. The B-Mets suffered their third shutout loss of the year and matched a season-low in hits.
Mazzoni made his first start in more than a month after missing 24 games due to right elbow neuritis. Trenton wasted little time to welcome him back. In the first inning they sent eight men to the plate, collected three hits and took advantage of an error to hang a crooked number.
After the Thunder started the frame with two hits, Tyler Austin supplied a sac fly. With a runner on third, J.R. Murphy sent a chopper back to the mound. Mazzoni fielded cleanly and threw to third, but Josh Rodriguez muffed the throw, allowing Jose Pirela to dive back safely. The misplay led to three unearned runs on Mazzoni’s tab when Slade Heathcott chipped in with an RBI groundout and Reegie Corona laced a two-run single to centerfie...

Ever since Lucas Duda burst into our consciousness in 2010, nobody has been satisfied with his plate approach. Too many strikeouts and not enough walks, I frequently wrote. He gives away too many at-bats. He tries to pull too much and doesn’t use the entire field.
All valid in the early Duda critique.
DUDA: Has the right approach (AP).
Now, unbelievably, he’s become too selective...
“Lucas Duda is the preeminent example of the Mets’ organizational offensive philosophy of patience and power,” writes Jorge Castillo of the Star-Ledger.
The left fielder’s .417 on-base percentage was 11th in the majors entering play Saturday and his .538 slugging percentage ranked in the top 30.
But his remarkable selectivity could also be detrimental on a team that relies...

Welcome back T.J. Rivera. We haven’t mentioned Rivera in the Minors Report for a couple of weeks and he was tired of being ignored, so he went out and got five...
Once upon a time, not so long ago, the Mets had a top ten prospect named Zack Wheeler who was deemed the heir apparent to their oft-maligned rotation. It had to be Wheeler, who would assume the role of staff ace. Especially with the controversial trade of surprising knuckleballer, RA Dickey. It seemed unanimous that Wheeler, his high nineties fastball, and array of formidable...

It was supposed to be an epic matchup of top pitching prospects in Trenton, between the B-Mets and the Trenton Thunder yesterday — the Double-A version of the Subway Series. Rafael Montero...
Binghamton 6, Harrisburg 1
The Binghamton Mets launched a season-high three home runs and struck out a season-high fifteen Harrisburg Senators in a 6-1 victory at Metro Bank Park on Sunday afternoon. Binghamton used a ten-hit attack to secure their third series win of the season.
B-Met third baseman Josh Rodriguez set the tone early. After Danny Muno worked out his team-leading 21st...
Matt Harvey, who pitches for the Mets, was very dialed in on Tuesday night as his Mets took on the Chicago White Sox. The 24-year-old flamethrower was so dialed in that he didn’t even realize that his nose was bleeding. The bloody nose definitely didn’t bother Harvey as he pitched a perfect first inning and had a strikeout.

Famed right fielder Darryl Strawberry debuted as a professional with the New York Mets 30 years ago today on May 6, 1983. The 21-year-old Strawberry, taken by New York out of Crenshaw High School in Los Angeles with the first overall pick in the 1980 MLB Draft, recorded his first hit two days later on May 8. Throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, the 6-foot-6, 200 pound Strawberry...
Trenton 5, Binghamton 1
Binghamton Mets starter Rafael Montero cruised through six innings, but faltered late as the Trenton Thunder scored four runs in the seventh to beat the B-Mets, 5-1, in comeback fashion on Tuesday night at Arm & Hammer Park. The B-Mets collected three hits in the first two innings, but were held hitless for the final seven frames in their second straight...
This game had a definite carnival atmosphere feel to it as the Atlanta Braves beat the Mets by the score of 9-4 to split the rain-shortened two-game series at Turner Field.
What a comedy of errors for the Mets even though the box score would suggest a clean game. I hate sad stories and bad endings so this will be short and sweet bitter.
What was up with Duda on that fly ball? Dude...

The CEO for the Omaha Storm Chasers and lifelong Mets fan was chosen to throw out the ceremonial first pitch last night before the New York Mets contest with the Chicago White Sox. It is probably a safe bet that Gary Green will not be invited back for any pre-game festivities after Green sailed the pitch over the head of John Buck smashing the TV camera protective glass behind home...
