Gil Meche would like to thank anger. Nobody likes to be angry, of course. But what choice is there when you’re the team’s highest-paid pitcher, the opening day starter, and you last just 2 1/3 innings, like Meche did in a Memorial Day start against the Detroit Tigers? Meche was angry after that start. You bet he was. He talked after the game about how he didn’t feel right at Kauffman Stadium, couldn’t figure out why, but needed to do something — anything — because these kinds of shoddy results just aren’t acceptable.
