The Atlanta Braves evened up the series with the Philadelphia Phillies with a 3-1 victory on Tuesday night.  The Braves rode the backs of Kris Medlen and Chris Johnson to get the win against the Phillies. Kris Medlen was great on the mound, as he recorded his 4th straight start with a win.  The win evened up Medlen’s W-L record for the season.  He is now 10-10 for 2013.  It is pretty awesome for Medlen to be back at .500 after a rough start to the season.  He finished the game with 7 IP, 1 ER, and 5 K’s. It was Medlen’s bat that got the Braves started.  He doubled to deep right field in the game’s 2nd inning.  Tyler Pastornicky, who replaces Dan Uggla (DL), was able to score and get the Braves the game’s 1st run. Chris Johnson, who continues to shock Braves fans, got in on the scoring when he homered to left field in the 3rd.  Justin Upton was on base when Johnson hit his 9th homer of the season. The Phillies would get their only run in the 6th.  Dominique Brown singled to center to score Chase Utley.  They cut the Braves lead to 3-1, but could not get anymore runs off the Braves staff. The Phillies did bring the tying run to the plate in the 9th, before Freddie Freeman made a great catch over the tarp to end the game.  Craig Kimbrel recorded his 37th save of the season. Game MVP: Kris Medlen: (7 IP, 1 ER, and 5 K’s) 1-2, 1 RBI Kris Medlen earned himself the MVP of Tuesday’s game.  He did it with both his bat and his arm against the Phillies.  His double got the Braves the game’s first run.  He also had no problem locating or getting movement on his pitches.  This Kris Medlen is looking like the one that ended the 2012 season. With the win, the Braves have now won 15 of their last 17 games.  The Braves continue to sport the NL’s best record and a 14.5 game lead in the NL East. The Braves will look to win another series tomorrow night, as they take on the Phillies once again.  Brandon Beachy (1-0, 5.00) will be opposed by John Lannan (3-5, 4.81) on Wednesday night.
