FOXSportsSouth.com invites you to meet the Braves as we continue a month-long look at our team, player-by-player. We'll revisit 2011 and project what 2012 might look like. Jack Wilson Position: INF Height: 6-0; Weight: 190 BatThrow: RR Hometown: Camarillo, Calif. Experience: 12th season 2011 in review: Wilson began the season as the Mariners starting second baseman, but struggled and was acquired by the Braves on Aug. 31 to provide depth at shortstop, second base and third. He hit .243 with 11 RBIs. Career highlight: There was no stopping Wilson in 2004, when he hit .308 with 11 homers, 49 RBIs, 201 hits and 12 triples. He also led the NL shortstops in assists and double plays, was selected to the NL All-Star team and won the Silver Slugger for shortstops. Outlook: Wilson was acquired for insurance, and thats what hell provide this season if either rookies Tyler Pastornicky or Andrelton Simmons cant carry the load at shortstop. Wilson has missed time with a strained right calf, but it appears he might be ready for the regular season. You should know: He became just the ninth shortstop in NL history with at least 200 hits in a season in 2004.

Chipper Jones is done

Chipper Jones has already announced that this is his final year in the MLB. He even went so far as to say he wasn't sure he could make it through this season. Then, late this week, it was announced that he's going to need surgery before the season to shore up his knee and that he hopes to return before the start of play in April. I'm not sold. At some point this year...

Atlanta Braves logo. Heading into 2011, the Atlanta Braves were a championship caliber team and played that way for the first five months of the season. The Braves had to win the last game left in the regular 2011 season just for a chance...

MLB Scouting Notes: Kimbrel's Progression

Craig Kimbrel is currently a counted upon, highly important mainstay at the back of the Braves' bullpen. However, it's taken some solid work for him to get to that point. Kimbrel has improved his command since his days in the minor leagues and has become more than just a power arm with a good breaking ball.
