New York Mets
Thanks to a solid effort by Jon Niese and a surprising 11-hit outburst, the Mets defeated the Miami Marlins by the score of 7-3 on Friday night at Citi Field.
The win snapped the Mets’ nine game home losing streak, but they set the new franchise record of not scoring more than three runs in 16 straight home games.
Jonathan Niese allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out seven over 6.1 innings to win his 12th game of the season, a new career high for him. Niese also extended his streak of consecutive starts of six innings or more to 19.
Ike Davis hit his team leading 28th home run of the season, a solo shot in the seventh inning. Davis now leads the Mets with 83 RBIs this season.
ESPN Stats: Davis’ 28 homers are the fourth most by a first baseman in franchise history. Carlos Delgado had 38 twice (2006 and 2008) and Dave Kingman had 37 in 1982. Davis passed Eddie Murray, who had 27 in 1993.
Scott Hairston also homered, a three-run shot in the fi...

The Mets, who are playing like they don't give a **** must find answers and find them quick. The answers unfortunately will not come this season, but Sandy Alderson has to find resourceful ways to make this team better and competitive in 2013.
The trade market has been much talked about with Ike Davis being the main topic of conversation. The Mets are looking to shop any...
R.A.DICULOUS: There hasn’t been much New York Mets fans have to cheer about since the second-half began. Heck. There hasn’t been many reasons to watch the Mets over that span. That, however, is never the case when R.A. Dickey toes the rubber. While Citi Field has been a ghost town for much of the second half, 30,332 fans showed up on Saturday afternoon to watch Dickey...

Before last night’s game, Terry Collins told reporters that reliever Josh Edgin would make one more relief appearance this season before being shutdown for the season.
With the Mets already being pounded 11-1 by the Phillies, Edgin came on to relieve an ineffective Jeurys Familia in the ninth inning with the bases loaded. He plunks Chase Utley to force home a run, and then BOOM...

R.A. Dickey earned his 19th victory with a strong performance, Jason Bay and Scott Hairston homered and the New York Mets barely held on in the ninth inning for their second straight home win, 4-3 over the Miami Marlins on Saturday.
Just hours after the Mets snapped a nine-game losing streak at Citi Field on Friday and scored more than three runs in their home ballpark for the first...
It has been a second half to forget for the Mets, and although they are out of playoff contention, they can still use the last few games of the season to play young guys, and possibly knock another team out of playoff contention.

Has anyone been listening to Mike Francesa absolutely kill the Mets on WFAN lately? Most likely many of you have, since Francesa garners a large audience, and rightfully so.
He is a knowledgeable sports personality that commands respect based on his reputation. But seriously, talk about something other than degrading the Mets.
This whole past week, Francesa has been...
The Miami Marlins are in for the weekend, and with them comes Jose Reyes. Now that the season is dwindling down to a precious few games, I ask: Would the Mets season been significantly different had they re-signed Reyes?
I don’t see how that is possible after last night.
With the way the Mets are heading, by the time they are competitive again Reyes will be on the downside of...
I never thought I’d say this, but thank goodness I was at the Yankee game tonight.
I didn’t have to suffer through the nine innings the Mets forced our fan nation to endure this evening. Nevertheless, tonight’s mess must be reviewed.
It as simply a 16-1 butt-whooping of the New York Mets at the hands of the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies, battling their way into the playoff...
This is a guest column from Becky W. about places to go watch Yankees and Mets games in the NYC area. The rivalrybetween the New York Yankees and the New York Mets has been one of the fiercest in baseball since interleague play began in 1997. Many people enjoy watching a game with fans of their team. Both teams have their own bars and restaurants that their fans can visit to be...
NEW YORK -- The New York Mets' march of misery continued at Citi Field on Thursday night, quickly hitting a new low against the resurgent Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies pounded Mets starter Jeremy Hefner with six consecutive hits to start their 16-1 win during an eight-run, nine-hit first inning. They bookended that with a seven-run ninth inning, including a grand slam...

R.A. Dickey was amazing once again and is inching closer to the NL CY Young award. He went 8 plus innings, allowed 6 hits, 2 earned runs, walked 2 and struck out 4 batters.

Two big innings lead to the Phils routing of the Mets as they win by the score of 16-1.
The Phils took the lead in the first as, with two men on, and with nobody out, Chase Utley hits an RBI single, knocking in Jimmy Rollins, who had started the game off with a single, then stopped at second base on Juan Pierre’s bunt single, giving the Phils a 1-0 lead, while sending Pierre, who...
