PHILADELPHIA -- Lucas Duda hit a go-ahead two-run homer and then preserved the lead with an excellent defensive play to back Matt Harvey and lift the New York Mets to a 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night.

Harvey (3-3) allowed two runs and six hits in 6 1-3 innings to help the Mets to their fourth straight victory and fifth consecutive win at Citizens Bank Park.

The rookie right-hander out-dueled Tyler Cloyd in his major league debut.

Filling in for the ailing Cole Hamels, Cloyd (0-1) gave up three runs and seven hits in six innings. Cloyd had outstanding numbers in the minors, going 15-1 with a 2.26 ERA. He was 12-1 with a 2.35 ERA in Triple-A.

The Mets went up 3-2 when Duda smoked a two-run homer to right field in the third inning. Ike Davis singled before Duda went deep for the 13th time this season.

Duda then flashed the leather.

With two runners on and two outs in the fifth, he ran down Ryan Howard's drive to left to preserve the lead.

After Harvey exited, the Mets used three relievers to get five outs. Closer Frank Francisco finished to record his 22nd save.

The Mets are 7-1 in Philadelphia this year and try for their second sweep on Thursday.

Howard gave the Phillies a 1-0 lead in the first with a sacrifice fly. Juan Pierre ripped a single that slammed off the right-field fence. Chase Utley singled him to third base and he scored on Howard's fly to left.

The Mets tied it at 1-1 in the second on a single by Harvey. Scott Hairston led off with a double and scored on Harvey's hit.

Jimmy Rollins hit an RBI double to put Philadelphia up 2-1 in the bottom half. Kevin Frandsen hit a single and Cloyd drew a walk in his first plate appearance before Rollins hit a shot down the right-field line.

NOTES: Hamels was scratched from the start because of a gastrointestinal illness. ... Utley created a buzz before the game when he took grounders at third base. The five-time All-Star second baseman last played third 10 years ago in the minors. "It could be an option in the future," Utley said. "It's way too early to have an opinion either way on how it's going to go." ... Harvey's RBI single was his sixth hit and third RBI in 12 at-bats. ... Phillies right-hander Vance Worley was placed on the disabled list to make room for Cloyd. Worley will have elbow surgery in 7 to 10 days. ... The teams wrap up the three-game series with an afternoon game Thursday. RHP Kyle Kendrick (7-9) pitches for the Phillies against LHP Jonathon Niese (10-7).
