The New York Mets (39-34) dropped the rubber game of their three-game Subway Series at Citi Field to the New York Yankees (43-28) Sunday night by a score of 6-5. The Mets had 12 hits on the evening but all were singles and in the end could not keep up with the power bats of the Bronx Bombers, who homered twice more in the victory. The much hyped pitching matchup between R.A. Dickey and C.C. Sabathia did not live up to expectations as the teams' respective bullpens were called upon to decide the game. Dickey saw his streak of 45 innings without allowing an earned run snap in the third inning as Mark Teixeira hit a one-out sacrifice fly that scored Curtis Granderson. It quickly got worse for Dickey as Nick Swisher followed Teixeira up with a three-run homer that also scored Alex Rodriguez and Robinson Cano.
