Who’s running this collection of half-crazed, alien outcasts that call themselves The Incredibles?
Pawtucket 8, Buffalo 3
By Dave [Retire 31]
The Buffalo Bisons gave up four home runs, and then attempted a late inning rally, but to no avail as they lost 8-3 to Pawtucket.
Dylan Owen with the start Friday night for Buffalo, got tagged really early giving up a solo homer on the second pitch of the game. He induced three straight groundouts to end the inning. In the third inning, Owen was tagged for three more runs and allowed another solo home run. Although he was charge with four runs, only two of those runs were earned. He fought to stay in the game, but was yanked by Wally Backman after only three innings. It was his fourth loss of the season and he now has an ERA of 5.23.
The bullpen was called in to pitch the final six innings and would allow another four runs to cross the plate. Jack Egbert failed to provide any relief allowing three more runs on two doubles and then a two-run ...

With the Mets obvious need for quality relief pitching, especially in pressure situations, what would you say if I told you there was a guy who could step in and step up, and do a fantastic job for the Mets right now? What if I told you he wouldn’t cost anything, not in salary or in players or compensation, but would merely have to be added to the 40-man ML roster?
Three pigeons decided to join New York Mets third baseman David Wright in the field during the eighth inning of Sunday's game at Citi Field against the Cincinnati Reds.

Mets broadcasters seemed to think that the pigeons might be spying on Wright, but in reality they simply seemed to be looking for food, albeit in an unusual place...
The New York Mets completed a three-game sweep of the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday afternoon, improving to 35-29 on the year:
Johan Santana started for NY, allowing four runs on six hits over five innings of work:
Santana clearly did not have his best stuff on Thursday afternoon, but his offense, and his bullpen, picked him up for a change. “I felt better,” Santana told reporters...
Major League Baseball ruled Friday that Mets pitcher R.A. Dickey will not be awarded a no-hitter.
The Mets had requested the league review the one hit allowed by the knuckleballer during a 9-1 win over Tampa Bay on Wednesday night.
The only hit in the 12-strikeout masterpiece was an infield chopper by speedy outfielder B.J. Upton in the first inning. Third baseman David Wright...
By no measure can we say that that Ike Davis is back just yet. I think he’d have to be way north of the interstate to back up that claim. However, not anymore can we say he is a lost cause and that he has to be shuffled off to Buffalo, because it appears that Davis is starting to get locked in at the plate and emerging from his deep slump.
Davis is on a six-game hitting streak...
After a disappointing loss last night, and losing Jason Bay for the 2nd time this season, the Mets and Reds will face off again for game 2 of this weekend series. The Mets will look to rebound and continue their winning ways from Tampa as they look to tie up the series.
Tonight’s pitching matchup features Jon Niese (4-2, 3.69 ERA) and Homer Bailey (4-4, 4.35 ERA). Niese is...
One of the roots of Jason Bay's lack of production in New York is that he has simply been unable to stay healthy. Bay hurt himself again in the second inning of the Mets' 7-3 loss Friday to the Reds, suffering a concussion while tumbling into the left-field wall in an attempt to field Jay Bruce's inside-the-park home run. The Mets indicated that they will place Bay...
The New York Mets went more than 50 years and 8,000 games without ever recording a no-hitter, a streak that Johan Santana finally snapped June 1 against the St. Louis Cardinals. If they get their way, they'll suddenly have two in less than two weeks. Prior to his club's 9-6 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday, manager Terry Collins said that the Mets have appealed...
The amazing quality of 2012 Mets is their ability to bounce back time and time again. It’s a team that you just can’t write off (and that’s something we haven’t seen from recent Met teams). After a wasted weekend up in the Bronx, the Mets went down to Tampa, to visit the Rays. The Mets looked pretty solid over the three game set, sweeping the Rays away and getting back to...
REO Speedwagon played Citi Field following the Mets / Reds game last night. We've seen REO many, many times. The crowd is not throwing bottles and starting brawls. And for the 2-3k who stayed for the...

In 1961, President John F. Kennedy challenged America. He insisted that by the end of the decade, we put a man on the moon and return him safely to earth. Kennedy’s idea was outlandish and considered completely and utterly impossible. However, on July 21st, 1969, Neil Armstrong set foot on the surface of the moon. Almost equally as impossible was the Mets winning a World Series...
Buffalo Bisons (37-32, 5 GB)
-Despite being five games over .500 the Bisons are still five games out of the division with three teams in front of them. Buffalo is still teetering on that edge of either catching up to the lead back or falling back to their I-90 foes in Rochester and Syracuse who are at least 4 1/2 games behind Buffalo entering today.
-The team is in a must-win situation...
NEW YORK -- Jon Niese had appeared to right himself quickly in the first inning Saturday night, retiring two of the Cincinnati Reds' toughest hitters after allowing a pair of leadoff singles. The New York Mets starter got ahead of Jay Bruce 0-2, then opted for a curveball. Suddenly, Niese was no longer righting himself or getting ahead, as Bruce smacked the hanging curve...
NEW YORK -- Jay Bruce's inside-the-park home run got the Cincinnati Reds off to a strong start against the New York Mets, but the play might have cost the Mets more than the first run of their 7-3 loss Friday night. Mets left fielder Jason Bay left the game after the play in the top of the second inning, as he stumbled on the warning track in the left-field corner while chasing...
In addition to Louisiana high school shortstop Gavin Cecchini (12th overall pick) and Purdue catcher Kevin Plawecki (35th overall), the Mets have confirmed the signings of 13 other selections from last week’s draft according to ESPN..
