In recent years, the Mets Farm System has been turning out a large crop of 1B/OF types. Players that have played both or have the ability to play both positions. One has been traded, and others have been shifted in their positions as they have been called up to the majors. The recent list includes: Ike Davis (Before becoming our starting 1B, he was also an OF prospect in college) Mike Carp (Traded in the three way trade for JJ Putz, is now considered a Fantasy Sleeper) Daniel Murphy (Really suited for 1B, also tried time in the OF, really a corner IF) Lucas Duda (Similar to Murphy, best suited for Corner IF, also considered a Fantasy Sleeper) Kirk Nieuwenhuis (Could make a break to the majors this year, similar player to the above) The obvious star on this list is Davis, so let’s set him aside for the rest of this article. Carp, Murphy, Duda and Nieuwenhuis all have incredible similarities. They all started to become prospects at similar time and they all were known for their hitt...

Trade of David Wright is ‘inevitable’

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, a trade of New York Mets star third-baseman David Wright seems ‘inevitable.’ Said Sherman: He [Wright] is trying to re-establish his value, hoping to capitalize on those nearer Citi Field fences to return to the land of 30 homers, 100 RBIs and a .300 average. The irony is that will, if anything, make him more likely to be traded...

NY Mets Spring into Action; The Latest News Around Mets Camp

Matt Harvey was in camp and dealing. Last year he had the stuff but he was very raw. This year is a big change, he has his windup much more fluid and has much better control of his pitches. I think he’s going to move fast and may force the Mets hand to bring him up this year. Jeurys Familia is also in camp and he is one big dude. He still doesn’t have a fluid windup. He’s more...

Here I Come To Save The Day…

Jeff Wilpon handed out orange T-shirts that he had printed with the Underdog logo on them for the players to wear during Spring Training. “I thought Jeff had a great idea”, Collins said. Nats Set a Bar for Wright that Mets Might Not Be Able to Reach

The Ryan Zimmerman contract extension sent shock waves throughout baseball. Anytime a player is awarded a deal north of $100 million, its big news. The biggest waves, however, reached the shores of Port St. Lucie, despite the fact that David Wright and the organization downplayed the impact. You know the drill by now. David Wright has a $16 million dollar option for 2013. He’s...

Lucas Duda is in Good Company For His Age

Lucas Duda isn’t Albert Pujols, not yet. But I am sure Mets fans could only dream that he will be 75% as good as Pujols.
