It was reported yesterday that Omar said he would be looking to sign pitchers who will accept minor league contracts and could compete for the fifth spot or fill a roll in the bullpen.According to Matt at Metsblog the Mets are interested in Josh Fogg, who fits that description to a tee. While he's not a flashy signing ( if it gets done) it's only a minor league deal and he's a flexible pitcher. The 33 y/o right hander is a mediocre pitcher, who isn't a hard thrower and only has decent control. From 2002-2007 he pitched at least 175 innings a season to approx. a 5 ERA, the last two years between the majors and minors he's pitched 100 innings between the rotation and pen.In 2007 in the post season he pitched six innings of one run ball against the D-Backs and then two scoreless innings against the Phillies. Now that they've passed on every decent pitcher available, as far as I'm concerned they can bring in as many pitchers as they can on minor league deals ...
