Joel Sherman of the NY Post reported today that the Mets are very interested in Chone Figgins.I like Figgins a lot, but he's going to get paid this off-season and two of the reasons are because of his lead-off skills and he's a third baseman, both of which the Mets wouldn't be asking of him. Basically the Mets would not be using his best assets because they have Jose Reyes in the lead-off spot and David Wright at third base. As a left fielder Figgins seems like a waste of our money and his talent.But if the Mets are able to move Louis Castillo then moving Figgins to 2B while batting him second makes a lot more sense and then the Mets have depth in the line-up and on the infield in case of injury. The Phillies are said to be extremely interested in Figgins for their vacant 3B spot, so the Mets might be willing to take a risk on not being able to move Castillo while still signing Figgins to block them...Though they are fixated on adding a power bat such as Matt Holliday or...
