After taking the first two games of their four-game set against the Padres, the Mets got shelled in an 8-2 loss at Petco Park on Saturday night. The Mets may have also lost starter Jenrry Mejia for the season after he was removed from the game after throwing two pitches in the fourth inning. Mejia experienced discomfort in his right elbow and we’ll know more in the morning. He allowed one run on four hits with five strikeouts and a walk in three-plus innings. Mejia was relieved by David Aardsma and things quickly unraveled for the Mets as the Padres torched Aardsma for four runs to take a 5-2 lead. They would score three more runs off Carlos Torres in this three hour and forty minute snoozer. Top catching prospect, Travis d’Arnaud, made his big-league debut and went 0-for-2 with two walks. He stranded a pair of runners in the fifth, was charged with a passed ball in the sixth, and the Padres swiped three bases against him as they put his arm to the test. Offensively the Mets were fl...

Pregnancies or Saturday's Loss: Which Took Longer?

Jenrry Mejia left Saturday's game against the San Diego Padres in the fourth inning for what was called "elbow discomfort". Keep in mind that Mejia had said ... before his surprising run of stellar pitching started this season, that he was going to get surgery to remove bone spurs at the end of the season. So frankly, I'm surprised it took this long for this to...

deGrom Could Be Auditioning For A Roster Spot

If you were watching last night’s game, you saw Jenrry Mejia depart the game with discomfort in his throwing elbow — and you also saw my heart break. I’ve recently become very pleased with Mejia and have even thrown around the idea of him being part of the 2014 rotation, but I know he has to have surgery to clean up bone chips in his elbow. I hope the Mets act swiftly and try...

He ended up allowing two runs on two hits, two walks, and three strikeouts...
