Fans at Citi Field were treated to a 20-inning affair, which the visiting Miami Marlins won 2-1 over the New York Mets on Saturday. Miami's Adeiny Hechavarria's RBI single in the top of the 20th turned out to be the winner.
It was the longest major league game since the Mets won at St. Louis in 20 innings on April 17, 2010. It also was the longest in the history of Citi Field, which opened in 2009. By the way, the longest game in MLB history is a 26-inning 1-1 tie between the Brooklyn Robins and the Boston Braves on May 1, 1920.
