The games have begun to be played and through 9 there are some good things and some bad things going on for the New York Mets.  This series is only focused on the minor leaguers who are playing in the games and the Met minor leaguer of the week for Week 1 is Zach Lutz.  He’s been one of the steadiest hitters.  If only he had more positional flexibility he’d be a definite bench player for 2013. Game 1: NYM 5 Was 3 – The story of this game isn’t the minor leaguers.  The story was that Ruben Tejada took Stephen Strasburg deep on a full count in the first.  The Mets would get 7.0 scoreless innings of relief and minor leaguers would factor only on the pitching side of the ball.  The biggest winner from this game is Mazzoni who earns the first “Game Ball”. Winners: Cory Mazzoni – 2.0 IP, 0 Runs, 1 Hit, 0 BB and 3 K’s “Game Ball” (1) Zack Wheeler – 2.0 IP, 0 Runs, 1 Hit, 1 BB and 2 K’s Jordany Valdespin – 1 for 2 with an RBI Darin Gorski – 2.0 IP, 0 Runs, 1 Hit, 1 BB and 1 K
