The 51s clinched the PCL Southern division title with an 81-63 record, the second-best mark in the league. However, they couldn’t get out of the first round of the playoffs, and their season is over. They lost to the Salt Lake Bees in four games, winning their only game in the series at home. It was still a successful season for Wally Backman‘s club, who made the playoffs for the first time since 2002.
The season ended much sooner than the B-Mets were expecting it to. Trenton Thunder swept them in a best-of-five Eastern League Division Series. The final game was played at NYSEG Park, and Binghamton got shut out despite recording 11 hits. It was not the result Pedro Lopez was looking for in Binghamton’s first playoff appearance since 2004, but it was still a record-breaking season for the 86-win ball club.
