It was a night of celebration at Citi Field after Johan Santana notched the Mets’ first-ever no-hitter on Friday. But as Santana’s teammates rushed from the dugout after he secured the final out to congratulate him, one Mets player went maybe a little too hard in the celebrating. Joel Sherman of the New York Post has the scoop:

Hard to believe dept: I heard Elvin Ramirez, called up yest by #Mets, hurt hamstring diving into Johan no-no pile, likely DL bound. #unreal.

It’s doubly a bummer because Ramirez has still yet to make his major league debut, too. But wait! Sherman later realized he identified the wrong Mets pitcher named Ramirez and issued a correction:

now confirmed it was Ramon Ramirez hurt running toward Johan no-no pile, not Elvin. Again, sorry for my mistake.

Same difference. Either way, some Mets player apparently got hurt in a celebratory dog pile. And now here we are to revel in it. The exact nature of Ramon’s injury still isn’t clear, but we’re guessing the Mets’ already flimsy bullpen wouldn’t miss his 4.78 ERA.
