Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right quadriceps, a day after helping spark a 9-4 win over the Yankees. Tejada limped off the field with two outs in the bottom of the ninth Thursday after getting hurt chasing a foul fly down the left-field line. He had a leadoff single in a five-run first, but also had a mental lapse in the field that allowed the Yankees to score twice in the sixth. The Mets selected the contract of infielder Omar Quintanilla from Triple-A Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League and made space on their 40-man roster by transferring reliever Frank Francisco from the 25- to the 60-day disabled list. Quintanilla is the starting shortstop and batting ninth.

Ruben Tejada Issue Solves Itself

It appears the Ruben Tejada problem has taken care of itself. On the day after hearing a wake-up ultimatum or risk being sent to Triple-A Las Vegas, Tejada strained his right quadriceps going after a ball he had no chance of catching in Wednesday night’s victory over the Yankees. TEJADA: A head-scratching player. That left the Mets with the easy option of placing Tejada on the...

Ruben Tejada Injures Quad, Will See Team Doctors In Morning

Ruben Tejada left Wednesday night’s game with an apparent quadriceps injury according to Terry Collins. It looked like Tejada slid awkwardly while attempting to catch a foul popup in the ninth inning that Mike Baxter caught for the first out. He gingerly walked back to his position and after making a routine play for the second out of the inning, he was removed from the game and...

Demotion could be looming for Ruben Tejada

Last night New York Mets fans got to rejoice as their team came back to beat the Yankees in novel fashion.  Watching the comeback unfold against Mariano Rivera, who continues his farewell tour from ballpark to ballpark, felt somewhat unnatural.  Reason being, nothing like that has never happened before.  That’s not to say that Mariano has never blown a save against the Mets...

Time To Bring Quintanilla Up And Send Tejada Down

Potentially lost among the exciting and unlikely 2-1 walk-off victory against the Yankees was the unsightly performance of shortstop Ruben Tejada. His sub-par season has been generally overlooked due to the even more significant woes of slumping power hitter Ike Davis, however with veteran Omar Quintanilla tearing the cover off the ball, the time has come for Tejada to get the hook...

Daniel Murphy is More Valuable Than You Believe

Sources inside the New York Mets organization revealed yesterday that both Ike Davis and Ruben Tejada were in jeopardy of being demoted to Triple-A Las Vegas if their performance didn’t improve over the course of the remainder of the Subway Series. Can the Mets Pitching Staff Build on this Current Win Streak?

Is this a mirage, are we actually witnessing something special happening with this Mets team. Have they woken up from their hibernation? Did it take for the Yankees to come into town for the Mets to finally start playing winning baseball? Was it the aura of...

Six Moves The Mets Could Make To Give This Team A Jolt

1. Fire Dave Hudgens – Call it bad luck, poor execution or just a failed approach, whatever Hudgens is doing or trying to do has been a massive failure. There are no success stories in his wake and too many good hitters with promise that have regressed. Every failed season needs a fall guy, and Hudgens fits the bill quite nicely. Remember when Steve Phillips fired Bob Apodaca and...
