The Mets continue to show strong interest in free agent relievers Brad Lidge and Jon Rauch, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post.

Like Lidge, Rauch is someone who will be looking to rebound and re-establish himself next year, and he will probably come cheaper than what his option called for in 2012. He had a disappointing season with the Blue Jays in 2010, but had two good seasons with the Diamondbacks and Twins from 2009-2010. It’s not to say he should be signed as the definite closer; rather, a guy like Rauch could come into camp, and along with other candidates, attempt to emerge as the team’s closer throughout February and March.
Lidge went 0-2 with a 1.40 ERA with a save and four games finished in 25 appearances for the Phillies in 2011.
