The Mets promising first half of the 2012 season may have given fans a glimmer of hope for the 2013 campaign. Approaching the All Star break six games over .500 and just 4.5 out of the division, the farm system-grown squad led by David Wright appeared formidable. However, things went south quickly and the season ended as another major dissapointment. With 74 wins, the Mets had their lowest win total in the past three years. A strong indicator of renewed faith? Ticket prices.  According to TiqIQ, for New York Mets Tickets, the average tickets costs $97/seat. This figure is up 17% from last year’s $83 average and up 73% from their $56 average in 2011. It appears fans the front office is hoping fans will disregard the familiar post-break downfall and focus on the influx of promising youth the team has brought in. After locking up David Wright as a Met for life, Alderson and crew shipped Cy Young winner R.A. Dickey to the Blue Jays. With this, they salvaged tremendous value out of a 38 year-old knuckleballer soon to cash in on free agency. That value came in the form of prospects Travis d’Arnaud and Noah Syndergaard, who come in at 14th and 97th on Keith Law’s top 100 prospects list. Add them to a farm system with pitcher Zach Wheeler (13th on list) and there’s plenty of reasons for hope. The Mets followed up by signing veteran Shawn Marcum to compliment pitchers Jonathan Niese and Matt Harvey, who had breakout seasons. Below you will find a chart showing the top 5 Series in the Mets 2013 home schedule: Besides the Royals series, no series in the top 5 come as much of a surprise. The most expensive home game of the season is the first of the two games against the subway rival Yankees, with an average price of $242, and a get-in price of $98. As the season approaches, the prices for tickets are naturally expected to drop, but should still remain higher than last year’s average.
