The Mets are working to sign another reliever, and have a multi-player trade in the works, tweets Jon Heyman of SI.com. Joel Sherman of the New York Post says the Mets are close to signing another reliever and obtaining one in a trade, and Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports describes the trade as a ‘change of scenery’ move for both parties. Last month, CBSSports.com’s Jon Heyman said the Mets, Blue Jays, Orioles, Marlins, Red Sox and Reds were all interested in acquiring Huston Street from the Rockies, though Street’s feud with new bench coach Bob Geren is a deterrent for the Mets, although Joel Sherman says the Mets are NOT talking to the Rockies about Street. Earlier this week, Joel Sherman of the New York Post said the Mets were among at least a half-dozen teams to inquire seriously about A’s closer Andrew Bailey, although Oakland’s price for Bailey is high right now and Sherman does not believe the Mets have the pieces it would take to complete a trade.
