It took the Miami Marlins thirty innings but in the fourth inning on Wednesday, they ended their record streak of scoreless innings.  Miami would go on to beat the Philadelphia Phillies 9-2.   Before this win, the Marlins had been shut out in three straight games and faced being swept at home by Philadelphia with Roy Halladay on the mound.

Mark Buehrle finally won his tenth game of the year after going over a month since his last win.  For Buehrle, it continues a streak of  twelve straight years with double digit victories.   The only season the veteran didn’t win at least ten games was his first year in the big leagues when he pitched mostly out of the bull pen.   Buehrle allowed two runs on five hits while striking out three and walking one.   Mike Dunn and Ryan Webb worked a scoreless eighth and ninth respectively.

In the fourth, Miami scored two runs and it was the first runs for the team since Saturday.   Most of the Marlins’ runs came in a six run eighth inning off the Phillies’ bullpen.   Greg Dobbs went 3-4 with his fourth home run of the year.   Bryan Petersen took part in the eighth inning rally with a two run double of his own, it was the third two-base hit of the year for the Marlins’ outfielder.   Also doubling was Giancarlo Stanton, his 24th of the year in a two hit day for the right-fielder.

The Marlins will start a four game series in Coors Field on Thursday and they are scheduled to face Alex White of the Colorado Rockies.  Scheduled to start for Miami is Ricky Nolasco.
