Found December 19, 2011 on Sun Sentinel:
Had a good Twitter discussion last week about some of the Marlins’ best and worst ever prospects. My top five in no particular order: Miguel Cabrera, Josh Beckett, Edgar Renteria, Luis Castillo and Adrian Gonzalez. My bottom five: Jaime Jones, Josh Booty, Jeff Allison, Jason Stokes and Chip Ambres. Turns out, CBSSports.com last weekend put together the Miami Marlins’ all-time homegrown team. Eligible players are those whose first professional organization was the Marlins. Don’t think C. Trent Rosecrans put much thought into his list. He had Robert Andino as his second baseman instead of Castillo and Brett Hayes at catcher rather than Charles Johnson. Here’s my homegrown team: C Johnson, 1B Adrian Gonzalez, 2B Castillo, 3B Cabrera, SS Renteria, RF Mike Stanton, CF Mark Kotsay, LF Josh Willingham. Bench: Brett Hayes, Ross Gload, Brett Carroll, Bryan Petersen, Josh Wilson  SP: Beckett, Josh Johnson, Livan Hernandez, Ryan Dempster, Nate Robertson RP: Antonio Alfo...

2012 Uniform Changes: Miami Marlins

The Miami Marlins had one of the most dramatic change in uniforms this season. The uniform change comes with a new stadium, a new team (hello Jose Reyes) and a new team name, the Miami Marlins, formerly known as the Florida Marlins. One of the key aspects of the makeover is the change of the color scheme from green and a little bit of black to orange and little bit of black. The...

Miami Marlins: Next season could prove 2003 run manufacturing redux

Last week I wrote about the 2011 Marlins ranking last in the majors in manufactured runs, according to The Bill James Handbook. Baseball Info Solutions has a way to calculate manufactured runs, as explained in the story. Big thanks to Ben Jedlovec at BIS for providing the Marlins’ manufactured runs data from 2002-’05. The Marlins recently have struggled in that department...

Mike Cameron is so old...

[insert your own punchline here. Or use the #MikeCameronIsSoOld hastag. Certainly, Nats fans felt like drinking on Monday afternoon when news of Mike Rizzo...

Jose Reyes Fired Up to Team with Hanley Ramirez

Whenever major superstars come together there is always the risk that the two major superstars will have an ego clash; however, that will not be the case between Hanley Ramirez and Jose Reyes. That is absolutely great news for Miami Marlins’ fans who expect the team to not only contend in the NL East division next season, but  possibly win the World Series. To give you...

Marlins Can't Afford to Lose Ramirez

More than two weeks after news first broke of their signing of SS Jose Reyes, the Miami Marlins have yet to say for sure whether Hanley Ramirez has agreed to move to third base in order to make room for Reyes. On Friday, Marlins president of baseball operations Larry Beinfest admitted to the Miami Herald "it may take a little bit of time for him to get comfortable" with...

Nats give OF Cameron minor league deal (AP)

Outfielder Mike Cameron has agreed to a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals and an invitation to spring training. The Nationals announced the deal Monday. Cameron, who turns 39 in January, split last season between the Boston Red Sox and Florida Marlins. He had a .203 batting average, .285 on-base percentage, nine homers and 27 RBIs in 237 at-bats.

Cameron, Nats come to terms on Minors deal

The Nationals have agreed on a Minor League deal with outfielder Mike Cameron. Manager Davey Johnson said that he is looking for power off the bench, and Cameron could be one of his answers.
