Jose Reyes is about to make a rare donation to the world of baseball memorabilia. He’s agreed not only to cut his hair live on MLB Network Friday at 6 p.m., but to donate those locks for charity. Reyes’ hair is headed for eBay, with the proceeds benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida. They money will be used to help grant the wishes of local children with life-threatening conditions. The Marlins’ new shortstop, Reyes has not cut his hair since 2007. He’s doing so now to comply with the club’s policy of neat and tidy haircuts. Celebrities cutting their hair for charity isn’t unprecedented. Last year, Justin Bieber raised more than $40,000 when he re-styled his signature ‘do and auctioned off the remnants. Though it wasn’t for charity, a clump of Elvis Presley’s hair in 2009 sold at auction for $15,000.
