Ugggh, I feel bad for Marlins fans. And I’m a Houston Astros fan. At least the Astros have moved a lot of opening day tickets, despite an unprecedented price jack by the new ownership. I guess ESPN Sunday Night Baseball helps. But I digress.
But back to the South Florida Flounders. Recall, the Miami Marlins grand Opening Day ticket sales event yielded a long snaking line of these four people, including a guy in dark socks and flops.

So where do they go from here? Apparently Groupon. This in a new stadium, which usually takes a team about a decade before fans stop showing up when a team is lousy. This is against the Atlanta Braves, their closest NL rival and relative rival. And all deals involve merchandise (let’s just hope that they’ve cleared the racks of Josh Johnson and Jose Reyes jerseys…that won’t sit well).
So where does the team go from here? Trade for big name talent and lose money? Reduce team salary to $30M and live off the MLB dole? Relocate to Nashville or Round Rock? The last option is looking the strongest.
