Michael Fulmer changes clubhouses after Tigers trade him to Twins

Righty reliever Michael Fulmer didn't have far to go to meet his new teammates after the Detroit Tigers traded him to the Minnesota Twins. In fact, all he had to do was walk down a hallway.

Fulmer, who has been a smoke-thrower for the Tigers out of the pen and potentially one of the only bright spots of their 2022 season, was traded to the Twins just a few hours before the two teams squared off at Target Field.

Reporters covering the game and ultimately the trade caught sight of Fulmer in the act of being traded. He simply had to leave the Tigers clubhouse and walk down a hallway to join his new team.

In the meantime, Fulmer went from the worst team in the American League Central, the Tigers, to the team leading the division, the Twins.

In 41 games for the Tigers this season, Fulmer has notched a 3-4 record with two saves. He has an ERA of 3.20 and a WHIP of 1.25.

The Tigers received 24-year-old right-handed pitcher Sawyer Gipson-Long from Minnesota in return for Fulmer. In 17 starts and 18 appearances between Single-A and Double-A ball this season, Gipson-Long has an 8-6 record with a 4.23 ERA, 87 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.12.
