We're in a rain delay situation here in Texas. It's expected to last at least one hour, with an update expected at 6 p.m. Pacific time. Plenty of Ichiro fans here to see whether he'll notch a record ninth straight 200-hit season. But I'll tell you what, if they don't get this game in tonight, he might not set the record until he's back in Seattle. Folks here were expecting rain tomorrow as well and a doubleheader on Sunday even before tonight's storm erupted here. It came down just under an hour ago and now, the tarp is still on the field even though the rain has stopped.
If one of these games, either tonight or tomorrow, gets rained out, the odds of Ichiro not setting the record here increase. Because if there's a doubleheader, it will likely be tougher for him to get, say, three or four hits in one day as opposed to having two games spread over two days.
