PLAYERS: Miguel Cabrera
TEAMS: Detroit Tigers
Your browser does not support iframes. Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera suffered an embarrassing mishap during Thursday's game when he tripped over the bag at third base. However, it could have been much worse as Cabrera nearly twisted his ankle on the play. It happened in the fourth inning with Cabrera on second and Victor Martinez on first with one out. Cabrera was lightly jogged to third base and was watching the ball as Don Kelly hit into a fielder's choice on the right side of the infield. Since Miggy wasn't paying attention to where he was going, he stepped on the side of the bag and turned his ankle a bit, which threw off his balance and sent him tumbling to the ground. Cabrera got back up and tipped his cap to his teammates, who thought it was particularly funny. However, it wouldn't have been nearly has funny if Miggy had hurt himself, which he came dangerously close to doing. You have to watch out for those bases. They just come out of nowhere, don't they? Max Scherzer wins 17th as Tigers rout Indians

With about 50 games left for most teams, it is a little early to start handing out individual accolades, but in the case of Detroit Tigers pitcher Max Scherzer that may not be the case. The evidence in favor of Scherzer winning the AL Cy Young is starting to become overwhelming. His stamp has been on the majority of the starts that he has had this season. Of the 23 starts that he...

Second Thoughts Game #115: Tigers 10, Indians 3

The Indians are a contender. Yes these last four days have been as long and torturous as a Jean Claude Van Damme movie, but they are behind the Indians. Yes the Tigers are clearly the class of the AL Central and this is true for a few different reasons: Miguel Cabrera (really just the middle of the order in general), the consistency of their rotation, and shockingly their bullpen...
