Miguel Cabrera put a dent in the field at Minute Maid Park Sunday (after putting a few in their left field seats Saturday). Cabrera fielded Astros third baseman Brandon Laird’s grounder diving to his left. Instead of getting up to throw to first, Cabby went to the unconventional barrel roll/throw from his backside combo (video provided by Detroit4Lyfe). Hey, whatever works, right?
At the time, it was the play of the game for the Tigers and preserved Justin Verlander’s no-hitter. Verlander took the no-no into the seventh before the ‘Stros registered a knock.
But, that still doesn’t take away from how big of a play this was…or how big of a dent he left.
